I have two of this brand of fountain and neither of the pumps come apart. At all...So I am imagining that they are probably disgusting inside?

If you do perform a regular clean up for the pump, grime will form, the pump can clog or the pump will be stuck. To do clean your pump, the intake plate on the side of the pump should be removed, along with the small plastic stator and propeller-shaped impeller underneath it, and the cavity where the impeller sat thoroughly cleaned with something like a brush or Q-tip to remove any debris that has built up over time.

Can this be used on fresh flow cat fountains

This kit was designed for use with Drinkwell fountains however we have had customer reports of using it on other fountains.

How long are they including the handles& what are the diameters of the brushes? I need some small brushes to clean a small aquarium pump with its tubing.

The thin, long brush is approximately 12 inches long with a diameter of close to 1/2 inch. The thickest is about 8 inches with a diameter of close to 1 inch. The smallest is about 6 inches long with a diameter of close to 1/4 inch. This kit was designed for use with Drinkwell fountains however we have had customer reports of using it otherwise.

The fountain base gets red areas in the hard-to-reach areas. I use the small brush to clean these areas, but the bristles wear off quickly! Can I buy 2 or 3 of just the small brushes?

I bent and unbent one and the bristles from the flexed section fell off

I really only use the two smaller brushes from this kit, but I think they work great. It got out so much gunk compared to the super skinny one that comes with the drinking fountain\filter refills. They don't last too long before they get worn down but well worth the cost in order to get all the nooks and crannies cleaned out in the drinking fountain pump....and we have found other household uses for the larger brush.
