Bottle arrived not full — twice

By Doglover on May 24, 2021

This liquid extract is supposed to be a 2 ounce bottle. The bottle does not appear to be large enough to hold 2 ounces, and it arrived (twice) with a significant portion of the extract missing (see photo). This is due to evaporation through the silicone or rubber top. The manufacturer needs to get a different kind of top. The price is very expensive and the consumer should at least get a full bottle. I can’t speak for the quality of the extract, as I have not been giving it to my dog long enough and it’s difficult to gauge regardless.

By happyheeler on Aug 21, 2021

Been giving this (as well as Sam-E tablets) to my dog for about 2 months now. And even our vet was surprised at how well my dog’s liver bloodwork numbers improved!

    Good stuff

By Spokane on May 19, 2021

Ease of use helps keep my cats liver disease in check along with the powdered samE I purchased from the site. As long as it keeps working I'll keep being happy. Pro tip mix both with a water based pate like sheba perfect portions and mix with water until it's like a watery paste.

My wholoistic vet recommended this for my 10 lb dog that had inflammation of his liver. After taking this and being retested, his liver values were back to normal. Good natural product.

    Batch Quality Concerns

By RogersArabiansInc on May 21, 2021

*** Image attached *** I bought this product over other options because of the rave reviews—it gave me hope, but once it arrived; I was afraid to even try it because the product [tincture] had a thick layer of an ingredient caked and stuck to the walls of the inside of the upper half of the bottle, as well as a very off putting scent. I thought maybe I just needed to shake the bottle well, but that did nothing, so I left the bottle turned upside down for several days thinking maybe the liquid for soften it and make it easier to shake the ingredient loose, which I kind of thought would be pointless since a large portion of it was already under the liquid level, but I gave it a try anyway—it *** Image attached *** I bought this product over other options because of the rave reviews—it gave me hope, but once it arrived; I was afraid to even try it because the product [tincture] had a thick layer of an ingredient caked and stuck to the walls of the inside of the upper half of the bottle, as well as a very off putting scent. I thought maybe I just needed to shake the bottle well, but that did nothing, so I left the bottle turned upside down for several days thinking maybe the liquid for soften it and make it easier to shake the ingredient loose, which I kind of thought would be pointless since a large portion of it was already under the liquid level, but I gave it a try anyway—it did nothing in the first week, the second week. . .finally after being stored upside down for about four to five weeks, NOT all of it, only the portion that would be under the liquid line while in the upright position broke free somewhat, but it still wouldn't mix into the liquid tincture—it just separated from the bottle's wall into debris floating around in the bottle. I dread leaving negative reviews, therefore something must be or seem very wrong for me to do so—I'm that lady that goes out of her way to call corporate to tell them about what a GREAT experience I've had, because I know positive feedback is just as important, if not more so than negative—businesses need to know when their doing something right too, but society is more likely to only report the negative ones, so I try to leave those to others and focus on the positive, but unfortunately this product arrived in-date, but apparently something was either wrong with the batch or the product wasn't stored correctly (temp and/or light) at some point in it's life before it reached me and therefore could've had a negative effect on my already ailing beloved senior Jack Russell, therefore I must bring it to someone's attention. Unfortunately this was not only a waste of $40, but due to it's lack of quality upon arrival; the hope brought on by the product's description and reviews was shattered along with any benefits the tincture could've offered. All this being said; there is always the possibility that I'm wrong about my assessments (I hope I am) and this is a normal, expected state to find this bottle and liquid in—if that's the case someone from Chewy is welcome to address me with the error and I'll be more than happy to rectify my mistake with the necessary appropriate correction(s) with my review—although I'm doubtful this is the case—I hope to be proven wrong so I can not only change my review, but my precious Fancy could reap this product's benefits. * Side note: Not only did the product's state and quality not meet my expectations, but neither did the bottle it is contained in. I don't understand why companies making natural and homeopathic products would use plastic to package their goods in—they could use glass ones packed in sufficient packaging boxes for shipping for nearly the same cost. It was a little difficult to hold the bottle up to sunlight and obtain a good quality image due to the bottle's amber color and because the shiny bottle reflects camera flash, but it will do. … more

    Won’t go without it

By JanLarayne on Jan 31, 2021

I got this for my little senior Yorkie who was found to have a liver full of nodules. She can’t have further testing due to also having chronic kidney failure so I bought this hoping to help her. She’s been taking it for 6 months, along with the version for kidneys, which is a few past what they expected her to live, so I absolutely would recommend them both! It only requires a few drops at her size, so the bottle lasts a long time. Because she’s not eating so great these days, I either put it in with her crushed meds that I administer with water via dropper, or in her puréed food (also administered by giant dropper). I’m not sure what exact impact it’s having, but I know it’s not hurting her I got this for my little senior Yorkie who was found to have a liver full of nodules. Still trying it

By Jazz on Mar 20, 2021

Bought over a week ago and I am slowly introducing it in my dog’s wet food. Caused a bit of upset stomach but not sure if it is the milk thistle or his possible cushing's. Will give it more time to be for sure.

    Outstanding Results!

By Cindi on Jan 28, 2021

Three years ago this June, our tiny Chihuahua's liver results were WAY too high! We believed she had very little time left. The vet suggested milk thistle as he had heard good things about it. We started it with just a slight hope things would change. One year later, the vet did more testing and he literally yelled from the lab, "YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS!" Her results had dropped considerably and if I remember correctly, were well within normal limits. She is an older girl, and just barely gets around now. We know her days are numbered but we also know we received a few extra years, thanks to this particular brand of Milk Thistle. <3
