I thought garlic was bad for dogs?
Answer by ChewyFeb 25, 2022
When used in small amounts, garlic can help support the immune system and liver. It helps the cardiovascular system prevent blood clots and reduces cholesterol/fat build up in the blood and heart. It also aides in the fight against bacterial, viral, and fungal infections, and increases the rate of killing off parasites. Garlic also helps increase the palatability of products.

Can these be given to puppies?
Answer by ChewyDec 20, 2021
These chews are suitable for dogs of all ages.

Natural Defense

I have 2 labs and 1 mixed terrier and I live on a wooded lot. Every Spring is when the tick population is the highest. So every year it is a real battle keeping ticks out of the house. Last year I used the prescription strength, Nexgard with my dogs, and my older chocolate lab nearly died from the side effects. Never again will I give them that toxic substance. I have used natural defense items in the past with mixed results. This is the first one that does work for my dogs. The few ticks that do get on the dogs, do not latch on and stick. I still do a skin and fur check after being outside before coming in the house, which I have always done when tick season is at it's peak. There are no side effects and my dogs like the taste. This is the best natural defense chew that I have come across and I plan on continuing to use it for them.

Ineffective

We decided to try these after our dog had a very bad GI reaction to the feed-through flea and tick tablets. She gets 3 chews per day and we are also using Wondercide spray before each walk. Despite this, we are still finding 2-5 ticks on our pup after each walk (sometimes biting, sometimes crawling around). These chews might work in a more urban setting with low exposure to fleas and ticks, but they do not work in areas with heavy ticks. I was really hopeful for an effective natural alternative.

Great product

I have a medium size dog that’s 15 years old. My groomer advise she found 15 flees on him. Due to his age and health I was looking for something natural. Tried them and 6 weeks later at his next grooming appointment they were gone. They found none. Also they’re soft enough I can break up and put over his food. This works for us.

Never buy again!

My dog would not eat this , wrapped in cheese, tried to open her mouth , she closed her teeth, and then growled at me! Never happened before, a teddy bear shadow always loving and sweet! But she refused to go near these, garlic smell? Wasted my money only one thrown away, all left untouched! I give her the pet honesty skin supplement for allergies, no problem, but this no!

Working on two dogs

We live on a farm and our two dogs run all over it. We have always removed 1 or 2 ticks each week other years. We have tried many different tick repellents. We have been using this tick defense for 2 months and have had only one dog with a tick. Our dogs love the taste. Great product.

My pups love these!

I have 4 dogs and was looking for a more natural flea prevention. I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. My dogs love their “treats” They’ve been taking these for several weeks now and I haven’t seen any fleas or ticks yet. I have added these to my auto ship.

Smells so bad

So the purpose of this defense is to deter fleas and ticks. But the smell is so awful, we won't use it with our dogs anymore. The pills themselves smell but also their stool is beyond stinky.

So far, so good

My two boys have been on this for over a month now, seems to be repelling fleas and mosquitos, as advertised. I have seen a couple of fleas, but picked them off and have not seen anymore or evidence (flea poop). It's early in the season in Florida, so I am hoping this will be a regal solution. The boys love the flavor, and think they are treats

Flea & tick defensive

I think this is a really good product. It has to be used daily do you believe it must build up in the pets system for it to be effective. I mix it in my dog's food half of the morning half at night so he got used to the taste. The jar says repels which is exactly what it does. I live in a flea infested area. Fleas love to hitchhike. We as owners must also do our part diminish the number of fleas in our home and outside.
