Does this need to be refrigerated?
Answer by ChewyJun 06, 2020
It is recommended to refrigerate after opening.

The serving size vs. pump size info. is confusing on the PetHonesty Wild Caught Omega-3 Fish Oil Dog & Cat Supplement. Serving is 5 ml (1 tsp), but one pump is only 2 ml. How many PUMPS would contain 3500 mg of Omega-3 Oil?
Answer by ChewyAug 24, 2020
Please see recommended feeding chart attached.

How long does one bottle last? I have a 70-lb Golden Retriever.
Answer by ChewyAug 12, 2020
As one pump is equal to 2 millilitre, the 32 ounce (946 millilitre) bottle will have approximately 473 pumps.

Does the product have to be used within a certain time frame? I understand fish oils start to go bad after 30-60 days.
Answer by ChewyAug 19, 2021
All jars have an expiration date 18 months after production and they can last even longer if stored in a cool, dry place unopened. If it's an opened bottle, it has a shelf life of 60-90 days. It should be stored in a cool dry place as constant exposure to heat or drastic temperature changes will make it spoil faster. It can certainly be stored in the refrigerator for max freshness but a cool dry place will suffice.

Good stuff

My daughter researched and bought this for her 4 year old fur baby because he limped. He’s a big boy and his daily dose was 5 squirts in his food. Since I’m the Grammie I feed him along with my babies. Within 6 weeks I noticed he wasn’t limping. I was so impressed I decided to try it on my 3 girls, 2 were 17 years old and 1 was 14 years old. I saw a noticeable improvement in their legs and energy level. They would never be puppies again but they were not as lethargic. They were moving and jumping in excitement, something I hadn’t seen in a long time. I was so happy I was able to give them back their “youth”. To see them run again if only for a few months in their final days.

Wonderful product

I have a Shar Pei 1.5 years old. He started having inflamed skin under his chin. It was red and itchy. He also has ear infections and a puffiness around his eyes and on his forehead. I read on a fb Shar Pei group where someone recommended this Salmon Oil. I bought it a couple of weeks ago.No more rash under his chin. His face is not swollen or inflamed either. He does have an ear infection which I have prescription for and is clearing up. He is so much more comfortable. It is like a miracle. No more head shaking, no more scratching, no more obsessing on his ears and he loves the taste. I put it on his dog food. The only bad thing I can say about it is the pump was impossible for me to get to work. They do give an alternative top so I just used that one.

Started March 16th 2022

My blue nose pit has allergies and just got diagnosed with bilateral torn acl’s. With 2 sets of medication for both issues, I decided to research supplements to help with the allergies and get her off of one of the medications. So far so good, but I also have switched to a grain free dog food. She is temporarily still on allergy meds but her coat is looking really good. Both dogs love the fish oil and thankfully there is no smell (except if they lick your face after they eat). Packaging was fine and no issues with the pump. I plan to continue on this road with the supplements along with their grain free dog food. Since they started the dog food and the supplements at the same time I cannot say if the improvements are from the food or the fish oil but I have both dogs with amazing stools now! I recommend just doing research on your breed of dog and their issues.

My boy don’t like the taste

My lab is not fond of the taste. Bummer. I mixed it in his dinner the first night he gobbled his dinner right up, guessing because it was a new taste but the second thru the fifth night he would only eat a few bites then would be done. I really wanted to try this instead of the pills. I’m gonna give it 4 stars still because my boy is just picky.

Great quality & No fishy smell

I am giving this fish oil for all my cats, ages from 6 months to 15 years old. No fishy smell and all my cats don't notice when I mix it with wet food. I started to add this fish oil with a small amount at first, then gradually increased to the recommended amount. It is helping for my oldest's joints and he moves faster and more playful than before. It is good for coat, too.

canines (and humans) happy with product

Our rescued APBT has skin issues out of this world. We have tried many Omega-3 with no positive results but this product seems to have made a huge difference in his coat. He isn’t “going bald” anymore, he isn’t greasy feeling, isn’t itching as badly, and doesn’t smell as bad as his did -even after a bath. He hasn’t had any bowel or stomach issues with this product and that’s a huge bonus. I’m grateful that this product doesn’t have to be refrigerated too. We recently started adding this to our rescued senior Boxer/APBT meals and have seen some remarkable results with him I’m a short time.

This stuff is - Wow!

My dogs never eat at the same time even though I serve them at the same time. I have to coax them or hand feed them. I bought this for their coat, and it insane how fast they eat their food. I don't have to do or say anything. They attack their bowls and lick them clean. The pic shows dinner time. I am so happy!! I will update with results.

Mmmm fish oil

My older cat has some cognitive distortion and my vet recommended some fish oil that can help in the long term. I love that this bottle comes with a regular flip cap and a pump so I can decide which one to use.

Didn't work for my cat

My cat won't eat anything that contains this supplement; I don't know if it has a flavor or taste she doesn't like, but if it's in her food and she comes within a few feet, she immediately knows it's in there and walks away. I wish I could give it to someone who could use it, but I don't know anyone who would use it and I hate to throw it away, so in my cabinet it will sit.

Kitty Approved!

I have been using this for my cats for a few weeks now. They absolutely love it. They get the 1/2 pump since they are both in the 10lb range. It’s palatable and not overly fishy smelling. Their coats look and feel great. When I brushed them before starting this supplement, I would notice some dry skin/flaking but that seems to have resolved with this supplement. With the weather change/change in seasons, I also noticed they would get rather itchy and groom more than usual- this product has also helped with that! It also allowed me to consolidate supplements, rather than give multiple to achieve the results this oil has given me! My cats seem very happy with it, as am I!
