Calms reactive dog

I use this for my reactive dog, keeps her calm more than any SSRI we’ve tried without any of the rebound anxiety. But of course this is different for every dog.

He looked at it and walked away.

Tried to hide it in his food but that was the only thing left in his bowl. I wish I could get a refund cause I will end up throwing it away.

A Spoonful of Chicken Broth Helps the Medicine Go Down

My dog loathes the fact that apples and carrots exist on this planet. I bought these Petipet calming bites knowing full well she would take personal offense to them desecrating her food bowl. However, these were the only chews I could find containing the calming and sleep-aide ingredients my vet said would help my snarky senior citizen canine relax and sleep at night. I was not surprised by my dog's abhorrence to the Petipet calming bite, nor was I shocked when I found the chew lying next to the trash bin. Even though I knew she wouldn't eat them, I wanted to see if I could trick Miss Persnickety into eating them. Since she wouldn't eat them straight from the package, I cut the chews into tiny pieces and mixed them with a small amount of chicken puree. She ate the offering and did not seem to mind that pesky carrots and apples were present. The chews worked nicely for her. It was the first good night's sleep Miss Cranky Pants had had in months! The only drawback to cutting the chews into tiny pieces to mix in chicken puree is the gummy, sticky, messy nightmare they are. I decided to try a different tactic. I have powdered chicken broth for cats and dogs that easily mixes with water. I prepared a bit of broth, plopped in a calming chew, and heated it in the microwave for a few seconds stirring until the chew dissolved. I poured the broth over my dog's food as a topper (If the broth comes out too warm, I stir in an ice cube to cool it down). She loved this even more than the bits mixed with chicken puree. This is the preferred method to get my dog to take her medicine. It is easy and less messy. Even though I wish these chews came in other flavors (The tryptophan in turkey, chicken, fish, and eggs is also calming and much yummier. At least to my canine - hint, hint. (-: ), I am happy with the product. It does work for my fur baby. She is a happier doggy, and I am glad I can trick her into eating these chews.

I've used these for a few days, with winter here and several cold and bitter days my dog hasn't gotten as much exercise and we would both like. My dog is a 2 yr old Old English Sheepdog and s few times when he has been worked up by outside noises and excess energy I have given him these treats. He likes them and scarfs them down no problem. They are very soft treats and the package is filled solid. As far as calming him, I'm on the fence. He has seemed somewhat calmer after giving him the treats, but it's hard to know their impact for sure. Because he does like them so well, I will keep them on hand and use as needed. I will also try them when storm season comes as my dog does not like thunderstorms.
