To use the camera/voice function, does the feeder require a paid app subscription?

This feeder does not require a paid subscription. The requirements would be WiFi access (2.4GHZ or 5GHz) and an active cell phone (iPhone on iOS 10.0 or later; smartphone on Android 5.0 or later).

Is the feeding completely preprogrammed before I leave or can I control feeding (timing and amount) from the app while I'm away?

Is the opening for the dispenser big enough for a cat to get their paw in it for more food?

This feeder has a patent rotor design that does not allow for a cat to place their paw up into the food.

What is the smallest amount of food that can be dispensed? Also, is it guaranteed to dispense the same amount to each bowl?

Each portion is about 20ml/10g. ≈ 1/12 cup. The first few portions may vary but after about 6 feedings, it should be almost even. There is an option if you want each feeding to be a different portion size depending on your individual selection. To prevent uneven food dispensing, please add enough of your pet's food to the visible level. To get equal amounts of food in each bowl, move the splitter to the right until it cannot move.

Wasn’t expecting to pay more $ monthly

This is the first of these types of feeders I’ve bought - but I wasn’t prepared for buying these dessicant packs that sit in the top that have to be changed every 14 days or else the system errors out on you in the app. Then you have to buy the monthly subscription to actually see the videos it records. It also jams up pretty easily with the very small kibble we feed - so it has to be cleared about every other day. Overall yes it works - but I would not buy another one - and frankly this one is likely short lived in my home. I cannot recommend this one to anyone who has any kibble bigger than kitty litter - or wants to actually watch the videos of their animals.

It works, but not as expected

The food SIZE required for this feeder doesn’t work very well for my multi cat home. I gave the instructions to give 2 cups of food and it did not even come close

The food SIZE required for this feeder doesn’t work very well for my multi cat home. I gave the instructions to give 2 cups of food and it did not even come close to dispensing that amount of food. I only need it for night time dry food. I learned on first use I would have to add additional feedings to make sure all the furry butts are fed. Would have given two stars if not for the live steam camera and the feed now option. That will help with dispensing more food and making sure everyone gets fed.

Disappointing!

I got this to replace an older Petkit model of a similar feeder with no camera, and I thought it would be nice to have the dual bowl set up for my two cats. However

I got this to replace an older Petkit model of a similar feeder with no camera, and I thought it would be nice to have the dual bowl set up for my two cats. However the distribution system is flawed and the food was not distributed evenly between the bowls as it came out, favoring one side or the other at random. It's a nice product and the aesthetic was good but I ended up purchasing the comparable Petkit model with camera and dual hopper and it works much better.

Good machine but attracts so many ants

We never had ant issues until we started using this. First 2 months was fine. We change the filter as instructed and refill the foods. This is only the third week

Not worth it!

Terrible feeder it was not able to connect and use the camera. I did not like that the food dispenser see differed every time. Even with the divider for each bowl

Terrible feeder it was not able to connect and use the camera. I did not like that the food dispenser see differed every time. Even with the divider for each bowl set in the middle the food would fill more into one bowl. Ultimately it wasn’t for me.
