LOVE the water filter design, I’m one where I’m not a fan of giving my dogs just straight sink water so having the filter gives me some piece of mind. However, I’m not a fan of how the jug doesn’t at least have a handle on it to help flip it over when its filled. Having the 4 gallon size and not being able to flip it makes me feel silly. I’m considering going to the step down sized gallon cause I know I’ll be able to flip it over.
We bought this waterer because of the microban qualities and the amount of water it holds. the major problem is the water bowl never gets more than an inch of water in it unless I tip it forward. We have a Lab mix dog and a cat. Neither of them could get enough water. I took out the filter and still didn't work. I changed the lid on the tank to the one off our old waterer and it works now. Just sad to spend that money on something that I had to improvise.
First 2.5gallon one did not work at all. Bowl was always empty while still water in the jug. Just will not fill the reservoir. Second one chewy sent as replacement worked first time I filled it then stopped working as well about half through. Ironically the larger 4 gallon I tried to return because it seemed too big actually worked correctly and has every time filled up. I have the half and 1 gallon older version of these and never had issues. So the 2.5 gallons are just no good, so will have to discard them. In picture the grey one is the 2.5 and notice water level comparison. The grey one will completely run out if I do not fill myself.
Called and resolved my problems. Didn’t know you had to turn entire waterer upside down to remove jug. Certainly does work. Also I had filter upside down. Square edge has to be up in the top so the strap fits better. Water seems to be coming out ok. Thank you customer service rep that I talked to.
This is a good product, heavy duty plastic jug which won't crack. Water level is too low for my cats and kittens. I drilled several 1/4 inch holes around the diameter of the black plastic cap about an inch and a half higher than the regular holes on the bottom. Bingo! Also, forget about the filter, useless.
I purchased same unit over 10 years ago and only now had to replace it because I dropped it while full and caused damage. My cat loves to drink from it and the one gallon size is great. I was glad they still had this unit available. The Microban seems to help keep the water clear.
The water reservoir is too low into the water bowl and only about an inch (which is generous) of water fills the bowl. I've managed to prop it out of the holder a little higher to get my dog water but what a pain. I would not recommend this one.
The base of this waterer is nice and heavy but the jug part is very thin, making it a bit difficult to handle when attaching the base and turning it over - I only had it about half way filled. The jug was creasing and I had to handle it very carefully. I don't think it will last through many fillings if it's creasing/denting.
So cute, and such quality. I really like the design, I've had waterers before that would slosh the water around when youre moving it around or refilling, sometimes spilling out of the bowl part but there's a bit of a lip on this that fixes that problem. I think the filter is cool and all, but I am probably not going to get a replacement filter, and it is awesome that using a filter is optional in this
I had the smaller one but decided to upgrade to the bigger one. I got this one and it doesn’t screw on securely and the top of the water dome has a crack in it, so when I go to fill it up, the water leaks everywhere!
