Description

This containment system keeps your pet safely contained and secure in your yard. Install the system in about a weekend by setting up the transmitter and burying wires around your yard. The fence covers up to 5 acres with additional wire and flags. You'll place flags around your yard and train your pet where his new yard boundaries are in fun, quick training sessions over the next 2 weeks. Most pets learn their new boundaries quickly. If your pet gets too close to the yard edge, the waterproof receiver collar reminds your pet with a warning beep, followed by a safe, gentle static correction if he continues. Add an unlimited number of pets by purchasing an extra collar for each pet.

Key Benefits

  • Waterproof receiver collar for dogs 8 pounds and up, fits neck sizes 6-28 inches
  • 4 adjustable levels of static correction or tone-only mode alerts your pet with a beep. Correction increases if your dog tries to run through the boundary zone
  • Collar uses PetSafe RFA-67 battery (included)
  • Covers up to 1/3 acre with included boundary wire, expandable up to 5 acres with additional wire (not included)
  • Add an unlimited number of pets with additional in-ground receiver collars

Secure Boundaries, Maximum Freedom
Customized for Your Pet's Safety

Customized for Your Pet's Safety

With PetSafe's In-Ground Fence Systems, you create a custom safe zone around your home and yard. This keeps pets out of dangerous areas, pools, gardens or trash and also keeps them from running away or into the street. You can add an unlimited number of pets with additional collars, and you can tailor the layout to fit your unique needs.

How It Works

First, you'll set custom boundaries by burying the included wire in your yard. Put the receiver collar on your pet, and the transmitter will be able to send radio signals to the collar. When he approaches the wire border, your dog will hear a warning tone or feel a vibration. If he tries to leave the yard, he'll receive a safe static correction from the collar as a reminder to go back.

How It Works
Static Correction

What Is Static Correction?

Static correction is a mild electric stimulation that feels like a tickling sensation or like touching a metal doorknob. There are four levels that you can set, and you'll start by trying the lowest until you see a slight reaction like raised ears or a tilted head. The static correction will surprise your pet but is not harmful, and he'll always get a warning tone or vibration first.

  • Didn't work for us

    By on

Usually I'm more than happy with chewy.com, well actually this is the first and only time I've been disappointed with a product. I bought this item because our dog kept jumping out chainlink fence and playing everywhere. Once we buried the line, which took maybe 30 minutes, our dog just ran right through it every time. She did receive a shock on the highest setting but it wasn't enough to deter her. She's a 15 pound hound dog, about 2 years old. We had to re-home the dog instead. Disappointed to say the least.

  • Yes, you CAN do this yourself!

Let my experience be proof that yes, YOU, my friend, can install this in-ground system from start to finish in an afternoon, even if you've never put one in before! We live in east TN, and have decent soil, so since it had rained not too long ago I borrowed an Echo edger and dove into the project. Be encouraged that the directions from Pet Safe are very well-written and easy to understand. Don't be psyched-out when you open the booklet...just follow the directions to the letter. You'll need to lay out the wire first, to get the general shape of the perimeter, then make the inside connection. The wire that you'll bury in the ground is very thin (a little less than the diameter of pencil-lead), and can be easily run outside a window once you make the simple inside connection, which is nothing more than twisting wire and plugging the stripped ends into the boxes that are supplied. You will NOT need an electrician, as the unit is plugged into an outlet just like you'd plug in a lamp. You simply plug the small control box into the wall outlet (inside - NOT outside). Then it's back outside to check the whole system BEFORE you bury it by using the hand-held tester supplied with the unit. It will light up to verify that all is correct. Of course you'll invariably want to test it on yourself, to see what your pup will feel when he gets too close to the perimeter. Once you've verified the system works, it's off to digging the trench. The Echo edger worked like a champ, cutting a narrow slit in the ground about 1" below surface level, which is all that's needed for the system to work. You can go a bit deeper, but we found that 1/2" - 1" below the ground works great for us. After the slit was made, the girls pushed the wire into the slit with paint-stirrers. Their blunt ends insure that the wire wasn't pinched or broken when being pressed into the ground. Then we walked back along the line and kicked any dirt back over the slit. And that's it for the installation! After that's finished, you'll set the "depth" of the band around the perimeter, which serves as a warning area for the dog as he approaches the wire. The "depth" of the band is controlled by turning a dial on one of the boxes that you put inside the house when you make the simple connections mentioned above. Your varmint will hear a faint beeping as he enters the safety band. If he continues forward, he'll receive a shock from the collar. The "depth" of the band can be set for up to 10 ft, which means that he'll receive a warning - an audible beeping - starting 10 ft outside of the perimeter, up to the point of shock. It serves as a good warning, and even our silly pup figured it out quickly. A multi-day training program is laid out in the instruction booklet, also, should you choose to use it. One helpful hint: If your dog isn't shocked when he reaches the in-ground fence, you may need to trim the hair underneath the "control-module" on the collar, which is placed to be under his neck. You won't need to shave the neck clean - we only gave our short-haired dog a crew-cut in a small (maybe 2" x 2") area, and that took care of the problem. Our perimeter is 800 ft. The unit comes with 500 ft of line, and we bought another 500 ft roll as well. Connecting the two lines to each other is a super-simple 1-minute process. Installing the system - from un-boxing it to introducing Bucky to his completed run - took 5 hours. Our pup learned the free area quickly, and we're very pleased with the unit. I'm not sure why you'd want more of a robust system than this one. The collar is waterproof, but the battery isn't rechargeable. You can order a replacement from Pet Safe. In summary...you can DO this!! … more

  • Dog can roam free!

    By on

Fence was easy to install after using an edger to create a small trench where I wanted to bury the wire. I have a goldendoodle puppy who is very active and extremely stubborn. Ultralight collar would keep him contained if I was out there with him but he would occasional run thru fence line. I upgraded to the stubborn collar and now he doesn't challange the boundary line. Nice to see him be able to run free about the yard with the kids!

  • Great replacement

Got this to replace an original petsafe fence that got fries from a storm. Works great. Now I have an extra collar. Bonus. This kit was cheaper than buying an extra collar by itself. Not that I needed an extra one

  • Best solution for me...

    By on

I would give it a five star but the collar emits such a faint warning that it's difficult (for me) to hear...which makes placing the flags a bit of a challenge. I'm not quite sure that my pup hears it either....or perhaps she is still making the connection...because she did get zapped. That being said...the invisible fence is a life saver. It takes some time and planning to install but is worth the effort. I am still in the training phase but I used their wireless system a number of years ago and the results were impressive. I had two large, muscle dogs who never once crossed the boundary. Their customer service people are outstanding! • Good fence

    By on

I had a picket fence that my terrier would simply squeeze through. I didn't want to rebuild the fence so I bought this invisible fence instead. It does require a little work to bury the wire but is fairly easy if the ground is soft using a flat shovel simply make a shallow groove in the ground, press wire into groove and press ground back together. Is working good so far.

  • Allows my dog to run around in the yard

    By on

This is a much more cost effective solution than fencing your yard in. So long as you walk your dog around the perimeter a few times and let him see that he is ok so long as he stays inside, the training is fairly easy. Burying the cable was a bit of work but not too much. Please keep in mind that the perimeter will be at least 6 feet in from where you bury the cable, so this works better on bigger yards. I did have to order extra cable, but the splice was easy to do with the included materials. Oddly enough, my dog is afraid of the white flags included in the set so I did not end up using them.

  • Awful.

    By on

If I could rate this less than one star I definitely would. I walked along the wire to make sure the collars worked. I could barely hear the signal no matter what setting the wall mount was on. I wasted my money buying this and wasted my time installing it.
