Description

This containment system keeps your pet safely contained and secure in your yard. Install the system in about a weekend by setting up the transmitter and burying wires around your yard. The fence covers up to 5 acres with additional wire and flags. You'll place flags around your yard and train your pet where his new yard boundaries are in fun, quick training sessions over the next 2 weeks. Most pets learn their new boundaries quickly. If your pet gets too close to the yard edge, the waterproof receiver collar reminds your pet with a warning beep, followed by a safe, gentle static correction if he continues. Add an unlimited number of pets by purchasing an extra collar for each pet.

Key Benefits
  • Waterproof receiver collar for dogs 8 pounds and up, fits neck sizes 6-28 inches.
  • 4 adjustable levels of static correction or tone-only mode alerts your pet with a beep. Correction increases if your dog tries to run through the boundary zone.
  • Collar uses PetSafe RFA-67 battery (included).
  • Covers up to 1/3 acre with included boundary wire, expandable up to 5 acres with additional wire (not included).
  • Add an unlimited number of pets with additional in-ground receiver collars.
What's Included

Transmitter with power adaptor, receiver collar with RFA-67 battery, short and long contact points for short-haired and long-haired pet, (50) boundary training flags, 500 feet of 20-gauge boundary wire, surge protector, test light tool, wire nuts, waterproof gel-filled wire splice capsules, product manual.

Precautions

Instructions

The receiver collar is not beeping or correcting.

  • Check the battery to make sure it is installed properly.
  • Check that both lights are lit on the fence transmitter. If not, perform the “System Test.”

The receiver collar is beeping, but the pet is not responding to the static correction.

  • Test the receiver collar with the test light by walking toward the boundary wire. If the test light flashes, adjust the fit of the receiver collar.
  • Trim your pet’s fur where the contact points touch the neck and/or switch to the longer contact points.
  • The contact points must be in contact with pet’s skin.
  • Increase the static correction level.
  • Repeat the training steps to reinforce training.

The receiver collar has to be held on top of the boundary wire to activate.

  • Replace the battery.
  • Adjust the boundary width control knob clockwise to increase the distance from the boundary wire that the receiver collar activates.
  • If using a double loop layout, make sure the boundary wires are separated at least 5 ft.
  • If the receiver collar still has to be held on top of the boundary wire, perform the “System Test.”

The receiver collar activates inside the house.

  • Turn the boundary width control knob counter clockwise to decrease the distance from the boundary wire that the receiver collar activates.
  • Make sure the boundary wire is not running within 15 ft. of the house. The signal can transmit through the walls of your house.
  • Make sure the boundary wires are twisted from the boundary to the fence transmitter.

The receiver LED indicator light is flashing every 4 to 5 seconds and I have just installed a new battery.

  • To reset the low battery indicator, remove the battery from the receiver collar. Discharge all power by holding the correction level button down until the LED is no longer illuminated. Reinstall the battery.

I have an inconsistent signal.

  • Make sure the fence transmitter is at least 3 ft. from large metal objects or appliances.
  • Make sure all boundary wire turns are gradual.
  • Make sure the boundary wire is not running parallel to or within 10 ft. of electrical wires, neighboring containment systems, telephone wires, television or antenna cables, or satellite dishes.
  • If a neighboring containment system may be causing an inconsistent signal, move the boundary wire farther away from the neighboring containment system.

The power and loop indicator lights are off.

  • Check that the power adapter is plugged into the fence transmitter.
  • Check that the power adapter is plugged in properly.
  • If the system is plugged into a RCD or GFCI outlet, check to see if the circuit has been tripped. Reset the RCD or GFCI circuit if required.
  • Verify that the outlet is working properly by plugging in a known working item such as a radio.
  • Try plugging the fence transmitter into another 120-volt outlet.
  • If the lights still do not come on, the fence transmitter and/or power adapter needs to be replaced.
  • If a surge protector is installed, unplug the surge protector and plug the power adapter directly into the outlet. If the transmitter operates without the surge protector, replace the surge protector.

The power light is on and the loop indicator light is off.

  • Check the boundary wire connections at the fence transmitter for proper connection.
  • Check for broken or damaged boundary wires at the outside entry to the house.
  • Perform the “System Test” to determine if the fence transmitter needs to be replaced.
  • If the fence transmitter is functioning properly, you have a break in your boundary wire (see the “Wire Break Location Test” section).

Secure Boundaries, Maximum Freedom

PetSafe's In-Ground Fence Systems are the most versatile and economical way to safely contain your pets while giving them plenty of room to run around. They're cheaper and easier to install than traditional fences, and you can customize or expand them whenever you need to. The gentle static correction from the remote collar helps pets quickly learn the boundaries of their territory.

Secure Boundaries, Maximum Freedom
Customized for Your Pet's Safety

Customized for Your Pet's Safety

With PetSafe's In-Ground Fence Systems, you create a custom safe zone around your home and yard. This keeps pets out of dangerous areas, pools, gardens or trash and also keeps them from running away or into the street. You can add an unlimited number of pets with additional collars, and you can tailor the layout to fit your unique needs.

How It Works

First, you'll set custom boundaries by burying the included wire in your yard. Put the receiver collar on your pet, and the transmitter will be able to send radio signals to the collar. When he approaches the wire border, your dog will hear a warning tone or feel a vibration. If he tries to leave the yard, he'll receive a safe static correction from the collar as a reminder to go back.

How It Works
Static Correction

What Is Static Correction?

Static correction is a mild electric stimulation that feels like a tickling sensation or like touching a metal doorknob. There are four levels that you can set, and you'll start by trying the lowest until you see a slight reaction like raised ears or a tilted head. The static correction will surprise your pet but is not harmful, and he'll always get a warning tone or vibration first.

Install in a Weekend

Installing your new PetSafe In-Ground Fence takes just 1 or 2 days—much less time than it takes to install a traditional fence. With a few simple tools, you can easily set it up in a weekend. It's a short DIY project that won't change the look of your landscaping and leaves you with the peace of mind that your pet will be safe and close to home.

  • Works great!

Read direction booklet before you start it has good tips. I rented a bedbug from local rental,($75)to dig and lay wire. I laid 1000 ft in 2 hours. If you hit a large rock push down handles so the blade goes over it and dig out rock or around it with shovel. I used an angle grinder to cut across driveway pushed wire in and filled with blacktop crack filler. Easy to connect, especially if you have some do it yourself abilities. The only thing I changed was the collar, I bought a good collar punched 2 holes and fixed the device to it.

  • Works very well

Bought this for our 2 dogs, a chocolate lab (8 months old) and a german shepherd (11 months old). Both are around 60 lbs. They picked up on things pretty quickly, just a handful of days. They did make it through the fence twice on correction level 3. Upped it to level 4 and they have been fine since. Still have the training flags in place since we have only had the system active for about a week. They won't go within about 10 feet of the flags, even when chasing each other or running around with the kids and the kids pass the border. Took a while to install as we have a large yard we were enclosing, but the process was relatively simple. System works great and would recommend to others.

  • Outdoor fence...INDOORS

    By on

Frustrated with the level of effectiveness of indoor wireless barriers, we decided to try an outdoor fence to the indoors. Rather than contain our dog within the loop, we use it to keep our dog out of the loop, effectively keeping him out of a large portion of our house. The wires are hidden under the carpet. WORKS GREAT!!!!

  • Keeps Our Dog in the Yard

    By on

We have a golden retriever/lab puppy that wants to meet and chase everyone and everything he sees. My husband installed this fence in one afternoon and it has kept the dog in the yard. We walked him along the flagged perimeter on a leash and pulled him back when the collar beeped. We let him off leash and had the collar on a low setting. He would cross the perimeter without a problem. We found the collar needs to be turned all the way up to be effective. Since bumping up the shock level we haven't had any problems, even when the neighbor kids playing near the perimeter. It only took two good shocks and our pup figured out that the beep meant turn around. PROS: 1. Easy to install 2. CONS: 1.Layouts are somewhat limited when trying to incorporate areas that are not off limits. We had to adjust our plan after purchase. We figured out something that works but isn't ideal. Make sure you research available layouts, and consider where your outlets are prior to purchase! 2.The tester tool leaves much to be desired. We ended up foregoing the testing tool and started listening to the different sounds to figure out when shock began. 3. We also found that the boundary width doesn't work when set below a 5 on our unit. This was unfortunate because ideally we would have set the boundary width to a 3 or 4. This flaw ended up making more of our yard inaccessible to our pup than we desired, but still better than building a fence on rocky uneven land so we decided to keep it. … more

  • Easy install

    By on

Simple to install. I needed the system to keep my Husky from digging under our existing wooden fence. Stapled the wire to the fence, keeping the 5' separation between wires (per the instructions), and had to use the twisted wire technique as a "no shock" zone for the wire entering the house. Easily changed the collar probes to the long ones (supplied in the package), due to the thick hair of my Husky. Still early in the training process (which is detailed in the supplied manual), and all seems to be working just fine. Dog is responding well. Very happy with the product, and the speed with which Chewy filled the order.

  • Works great

We have been using this for about 1 year and it works great. Most of the time my dog goes out without the shocker collar on now because she isn't inclined to leave the part of our big yard she is allowed in. She did get some spots on her neck from the collar but they have all gone now. We live in town so a couple small spots on her neck is far better than a life tied up or death on the road. She is a much better citizen too since she can't go in the front yard and bark at everyone who goes by.

We just installed this product a week ago and used as the manufacturer recommend and now she's missing a huge patch of hair where the collar is and has holes in her neck.

This whole system is terrible. I haven't even had the system for a year. I've had two batteries easily pop out putting my dogs in danger of swallowing a battery. The collars they give are worthless and won't last two weeks, we replaced 4 before buying a regular collar from the store and putting the receiver on those. We've had two receivers brake at the prong while the collar was being worn. ... how does that happen?? Then there's 2 more receivers that were snapped in half within an hour of wearing them. They are definitely not recommended for use with multiple dogs or any dog with high energy. These receivers are set on high and when my dogs are so inclined he just braces himself and runs through This whole system is terrible. I haven't even had the system for a year. • Amazing service!

I'm actually submitting this review in praise of Chewy! I ordered the PetSafe system yesterday afternoon and to my astonishment it arrived at my home today! Since I live in a very rural location, receiving orders usually takes a week or more! very impressed, and Chewy you've acquired a future customer! Thank-you! I will also review the PetSafe system after it's installed.

We put this fence in at our camp and it is awesome! Our pup learned his boundary quickly and it is so nice to be able to have home enjoy camp like we do!
