Where is the padding on this model? Is it on all straps? And is it's intent to minimize chafing?

Answer by ChewyApr 16, 2020
This harness features neoprene lined straps on all straps.

Where does the buckle snap? My pup's current harness snaps behind her shoulder. One little hop and she can slide her shoulder and leg right out! If we tighten it, we won't be able to snap it around her, she has rather broad shoulders.

Answer by ChewyMar 06, 2020
This harness features two clasps that snap on the same side of the harness. Please see image below for reference.

Our dog can't have anything that puts pressure on her throat. Does this harness get close to the throat area?

Answer by ChewySep 17, 2020
When sized and fitter properly this harness should go across the front of the chest and around the girth of the chest behind the from legs. See attached picture for visual.

Is this harness for dachshunds

Answer by ChewyMay 04, 2020
To select the best size we recommend that you measure your dog's chest girth (circumference) and chest width. To measure the chest girth you'll measure around the broadest part of the rib-cage behind the front legs and to measure for the width you'll measure across the front chest, to approximately 1 inch behind the front legs. If the dog happens to be in between sizes it's then recommended to select the bigger size. The Small fits a chest width of 8.5-11 inches with a girth of 15-20 inches. The Medium fits a chest width of 12-15 inches with a girth of 20-28 inches. The Medium/Large fits a chest width of 14-18 inches with a girth of 25-35 inches. The Large fits a chest width of 16-21 inches with a girth of 26-36 inches.

I've had this type of harness since I adopted Moose. I tried the step-in but it was harder to use for me. I have been looking for this harness since I settled for the step-in because it took two people to put the step-in on Moose. I guess I should buy another one so I don't have to search for the same kind next time.

This is a quality harness, but doesn't fit

I ordered two sizes because my 4 month old basset hound is between sizes. I couldn't adjust either one to fit or stay on her. She was able to pull a front leg out in each one. Next thing I know, she is wearing the harness like a dress. I really think this would be a great harness for a dog with longer legs, but I can't recommend this harness for a short dog with dwarf legs like a basset hound or a corgi.

Recently switched to this harness for our 10 month old German shepherd puppy. He wears a neck collar typically but we prefer a harness for walks and hikes. Previous harnesses that we used would slide and not stay in place and would look awkward or the buckle portion would slide all the way to his armpit looking uncomfortable while our pup was exercising. This harness was easy to adjust to find his perfect fit and stayed exactly where it should be even with lots of running and playing with his doggo brother. With shepherds thick neck fur other harnesses were a struggle that did not adjust and he just looked squished. The front leash clip helps to provide extra peace of mind to help guide our pup not to pull and walk like a little gentleman. This is our second time buying this harness as his older doggo brother also uses this harness daily for several years. They hold up very well and wash easily

Fit?

I'm not sure the harness the chest strap connection to the black belly strap is located at the most comfortable position. It should be placed further from the armpits

I'm not sure the harness the chest strap connection to the black belly strap is located at the most comfortable position. It should be placed further from the armpits to prevent rubbing. Perhaps a larger size than the medium I ordered for my 19lb cavalier king Charles spaniel?

Not good for small/medium dogs

Good control of a strong dog

This harness allows for control of a strong dog. It hooks in the front which turns the dog towards you when pulling. It is challenging to fit a bully breed so measure

It took like a month for the straps to stop loosening, but after that my dog and I super love it. I got a slide on silicone dog tag and it works so well it looks made for it. I never have any trouble with the buckles, way better than the other harness that I paid more for.

Large is too large, Medium is too small.

Would give 5 stars were it not for the fact that on my 75 lb. female Lab, the Large is too large even when the adjustments are pulled as tight as they will go, and

Would give 5 stars were it not for the fact that on my 75 lb. female Lab, the Large is too large even when the adjustments are pulled as tight as they will go, and the Medium is too small when expanded as loose as it will go. There is a gap in the sizing, whereas there should be a bit of overlap.

Own and operate a dog hiking, boarding, daycare center. In 20 years this is the best tool I have found to maintain control of even the largest of breed without any neck stimulation or trauma. All of the dogs in my hiking packs wear these harnesses. They are an absolutely invaluable tool in my line of work.
