I was pulled over on the side of the interstate and opened my back door to grab something. My 50lb dog went to jump out of the car (which is why I had him connected to this car seat leash) and the strap snapped. He sprinted around as traffic rushed by, I was able to tackle him and drag him to safety, with my knees and hands bleeding. This was a horrible and terrifying expetience.
It really would be better if the leash portion was thicker or metal, something that can't be chewed. My dog was attached for about 45 minutes before we had to pull over on the thru-way for my daughter to go potty. Next thing I know, my dog is out of the car and running toward oncoming traffic, it was absolutely terrifying and I am immensely thankful that I was able to catch him. I'm just going to have to throw the whole thing out after one use and stick with a regular old leash :(
Pretty simple to use. The tether from side to side was much longer than I expected - I have a Kona and that cord was twice as long as the width of my car. The "leash" part is very accommodating as well. That is super long too. The metal ring slides back and forth with ease. I have a doofus of a dog - unlike the other harness clips, she has yet to get tangled up with this one!
I was hoping it was a little thicker material and metal hooks. I had a previous one that was more like an actual tie down strap used on trailers and such. This one has plastic hooks and just a very think line. But my dog is still a puppy so it does the job for now. But I know it won’t hold up when she gets larger.
I switched to this zipline from a seatbelt attachment in order to give my 5 month old aussie more freedom to move around in the back seat on car rides. She definitely appreciated the increased mobility that the zipline provides - she could finally stick her head out BOTH of the back windows! However, the attachment that goes between the zipline and her harness is quite long and didn't prevent her from trying to jump out the window on our first trip out. Thank goodness my husband was driving and I was in the passenger seat, so I could grab her and haul her back inside. If you have a fearless pup who does not understand the danger of jumping out of a moving vehicle, maybe keep the windows up while using this device.
I was so happy I found this product. My lab mix likes to walk back and forth across the backseat as well as lay down, so the traditional buckle-in seatbelts weren't working well as she would get tangled. She was able to move around and lay down with no issues with this design. The hooks that go on the car handles seem okay and I was able to get the Zipline strap decently tight, but I may change it out for a nylon strap with a cam buckle to make it tighter and not have to worry about the hooks possibly breaking.
I have a car seat harness for each of my 3 dogs. I've purchased these harnesses for each of my dogs, in sizes for their growth from 8 week large puppy to 107 lb adulthood (XL). My dogs ride securely seatbelted in and being harnessed securely has even aided in one dog getting over carsickness. Great quality, easy to adjust, well made, and fit is great for varied chest shapes and size/lengths.
This was easy to set up and seems durable enough. I wish the straps were a stronger material since my dog likes to chew on this type of material, but hopefully it'll last because it's exactly what I was looking for.
This is an awesome product. My dog loves to roam between the two backseat windows, and this is perfect for her. She has the freedom to go back and forth, and I have peace of mind. I adjusted the length and it hasn’t gotten tangled in the months I’ve used it! She’s a pretty strong girl and it’s held up very well. I use it with the harness so there’s no chance of it choking her. Totally recommend!
This has prevented my dog from jumping out of the window multiple times. Only complaint would be there is too much slack from the zipline even when tightened all the way - although she cant get all the way out of the window I have had to stop and run to save her from hanging from the window! Otherwise its amazing and my dog wears it even with another dog in the car (the other dog is not hooked up)
