Description

Whether they're keeping paws off the carpet or noses out of the trash, pet parents fight an uphill battle with curious cats and dogs. The Pawz Away Indoor Pet Barrier from PetSafe helps by emitting a high-pitched tone and safe, static correction whenever a pet crosses the invisible barrier defined by the sleek, nonobtrusive transmitter. The included collar uses a progressive static to safely associate certain areas with an unexpected correction that reminds pets there are better places to play.

Key Benefits

  • System includes: lightweight, waterproof receiver collar and compact transmitter
  • For indoor use only with dogs and cats 5 pounds and up, fits neck sizes 6-28"
  • Range adjustable from 2 to 12 feet in diameter
  • Progressive Static Correction- begins at the lowest level and increases to maximum in 3 seconds. Collar stops delivering correction after 15 seconds
  • Transmitter uses 3 AA batteries (not included); receiver collar uses two 3-Volt lithium batteries (included)

Additional Details

  • Stopped my cat from getting my couches and curtains covered in fur.

    By on

Worked effectively in prohibiting my cat from getting on my couches and in the windows with the fabric curtains, therefore no more fur! Once I received the system I put the collar on him and he wasn't phased by the slight shock but was curious of the beeping. He jumped on the couch with it and went onto his normal business with the system on. I gave up thinking my cat was just set in his ways. A few days later I gave him a bath and later that night I decided to try the system again. It worked perfectly, to my surprise! All I could come up with is that giving him a bath moved around his fur and removed some of the oils from his skin, making him feel the shock now. It's been 2 weeks and he doesn't test the system out and knows if he hears a beep, he's to close to the barrier and adjusts accordingly. If this doesn't work right away for you, I'd suggest giving it time and having patience. Something so little might be the key to get it working for you. … more

  • Just what I needed

    By on

Let me first say that I read all the reviews on this product and hesitated before buying it because most people said it didn't work for cats. I was desperate so I felt like I had nothing to lose. I have 3 cats and recently got a dog. My one cat started spraying all over my house since we got the dog, and I have tried everything on the market plus kitty prozac. Nothing worked. I finally decided I needed to give her up with full disclosure of her "issue". I found a place for her, but until they could take her, I was keeping her in my bedroom and bathroom which is quite a large space. She has never sprayed in there, and actually seemed quite happy during the day, so I decided to keep her Let me first say that I read all the reviews on this product and hesitated before buying it because most people said it didn't work for cats. I found a place for her, but until they could take her, I was keeping her in my bedroom and bathroom which is quite a large space. She has never sprayed in there, and actually seemed quite happy during the day, so I decided to keep her and just let her be happy where she feels safe. I love her so much and she's such a scared baby. I couldn't imagine handing her over to someone else. My problem was that at night, my 2 other cats want to be in and out of my room all night so I can't keep my door shut, which allowed my spraying cat access to the rest of the house which was not good. I decided to try the collar, and after about 30 minutes of carrying her to where it would start beeping and then pulling her back, and repeating that a bunch of times, then putting her on the ground and kind of walking her towards the beep an pulling her back once it started, it worked! I have had the collar about a week now, and she's been great. Doesn't go near the door at night! I will say that the collar is a bit wide, but she doesn't try to pull it off which is great. I take it off during the day and just keep my door shut. I'm not saying that this will work for all cats because I'm positive this would have no affect whatsoever on my male cat who is not afraid or deterred by anything. As I said, my female is scared of her own shadow, so I'm not surprised that it works on her. I do feel that a little training is key though. … more

  • This barrier is not effective

    By on

I, unfortunately, have to give this product a negative review. Years ago I set up an inside barrier in our house and it worked perfectly. This one, however, is inconsistent with it's warnings. Our dog quickly learned to "test" it, and figured out that oftentimes he can walk right by unnoticed. He has even walked right up to the transmitter and smelled it! Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

  • Love this little gem.

Love love love this! Bought this because my just adopted little girl kept bolting out the front door. It took just about 3 times of her getting a little zap to learn that the beeping tone is not a good thing. I then used it because she also had the habit of getting on the furniture. She never even needed a zap because she learned what the tone meant. I would highly recommend this product and as always chewy is fast shipping with great customer service.

  • Not for cats; doesn't work anyway!

    By on

It hangs on my cat! The collar CAN be adjusted to a tiny diameter but the collar width is way too wide for a cat and the PetSafe device itself is huge for a cat (or small dog) and the probes are quite long (around 3/8"). Not to mention, the batteries that came with it were dead and the extra set I bought only start working about 2" away on the 12" level (which means there's no training zone and these batteries won't last long either. COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!!

  • Indoor pet barrier

Best piece of equipment for a puppy and dog! I also bought another disk to put in a different room and I am excited to say the puppy doesn't go into the kitchen or work room. I am excited because I don't have to climb over pet gates and the cats are free to roam.

  • I love your company!

I read all the reviews and decided to this a try with my two cats. I should have listened to other people who said these just didn't do the job. I think these collars are more for dogs. Save yourself some time don't order these for your cat. I can say that I LOVE Chewy they made this return SUPER EASY!

  • Works like a charm

I have had one of these before. I wanted to set one up again, so my dog would stop going into where the cats food and litter box was. All it took was one time and now he doesn’t even walk that way, even with the collar off.

  • Fur Thickness May Be a Factor

    By on

We bought Pawz Away to deter our cat from urinating in a certain corner of one of our rooms. Unfortunately, once a cat urinates on a carpet, however faint the smell may be despite cleaning, they are drawn back to it. We have tried many things without results. When we first received this system, we followed the steps for training and he seemed to respect the barrier. However, we found that he went back to the spot at least once. He has fairly thick fur, so we decided to shave the area under his neck to make sure he would feel the correction. We have not found evidence that he has been back to the spot, so we are assuming it is doing its job at this point.
