PetSafe ScoopFree Crystal Plus Self-Cleaning Cat Litter Box

My cats have never used a smart litter box before so going into this was an adventure. Set up was easy, directions were well written and its really cool how it all snaps in. I was worried about the litter which is like a crystal gel thing but it is handsdown incredible with scent. I wish the area the that held the poop after it scoops was bigger because my male cat takes like human sized dumps. It did take awhile to get the cats to trust the machine and my girl cat is still only at the sniffing it stage (she takes a year to acclimate to anything new) but after a week (and sprinkling their old litter in there like the directions said) my boy cat proudly took a massive dump then swatted at the scooper when I pushed the button. This is a really nice litterbox, especially for those that live in small spaces because the scent is basically non existent but even this large size is a bit too small for my male cat and if I wanted to switch to this full time it would be an investment. I would need 2 litter box and the pads are $77 bucks for a 3 pack. Because my beast of a cat poops so big and the poop hatch is not super big, I wouldn't make it the "month" each pad is supposed to get you. So i recommend this for apartments, condos, or people who have a cat that isn't 15 pounds.

We tried this box for our 2 cats and it was not well received by either cat. No matter what we tried, these guys would not use it. They are familiar with crystal litter, so that wasn't the problem. We found that while the system itself is rather large, the area the cats have to use the box is small. I do not think this would work out for large cats. Our girl is an average size cat and it even seemed too small for her. The litter itself seems rough. It is not a small sand grain type crystal. It is a larger chunky grain. It is not very "paw friendly".

The litter box didn’t work, I followed all the instructions and when I plugged it in it just flashed red and blue. There is not reference in the manual on what to do when it flashes red and blue. I then recieved a replacement for the first order but when I set that one up it also flashed red and blue. It is so easy to set up, we’ve had our old one from the same brand for 4 years with no issues setting anything up. But I don’t understand how we got two busted litter boxes.
