About This Item

Details

Phenylpropanolamine Hydrochloride is indicated for the control of urinary incontinence due to urethral sphincter hypotonus in dogs. Phenylpropanolamine is a chemical analogue of the endogenous sympathomimetic amines. It is an α-adrenergic agent which has been reported to increase urethral tone in dogs. Its mechanism of action is not well determined, but it is believed to cause the release of norepinephrine by indirectly stimulating both the alpha and beta-adrenergic receptors of the smooth muscle to increase smooth muscle tone of the urethra, bladder neck, and the internal urethral sphincter.

Proudly sourced directly from the manufacturer or their approved distributor. Guaranteed genuine and backed by the manufacturer.

Not Chewable! Unsuitable for senior dogs!

Ordered this product because it was less expensive than going through our vet. When a product is primarily for older dogs and is marketed as “chewable” you’d expect that to be the case. These pills are like jawbreakers! And worse, they’re so hard you can’t even break them up without using a mallet! And even then our dog separates them from her food and spits them out! Chewy has been less than helpful too. Offered to charge me for a replacement! Bad product and not great customer support.

I saw a review that these chewables are hard to break up but dismissed it. I was wrong. I have to use a pill cutter to even break these in half despite the fact they have a line in the middle that indicates where they should break. My dog will only eat these if they're in a pill pocket and as she's missing several teeth she can't handle a pill the size of a quarter. The price is decent for a generic but I'm getting the name brand next time.

Works, but many side effects.

The drug worked from first day, but raises blood pressure, made my dog completely hyper, like she was on speed or steroids. She would drool and had a hard time

The drug worked from first day, but raises blood pressure, made my dog completely hyper, like she was on speed or steroids. She would drool and had a hard time settling. But I gradually lowered dose and symptoms lessened to a degree and it continues to work.

Proin - much cheaper, same thing

I am so happy I found this generic for Proin. It is the exact same product and my dog really likes it, and the cost is much more manageable. Wish it weren’t so hard

Pills are hard to crush

Our dog won;t eat pills without them being crushed and stirred into her food. There is some kind of coating on these pills that make them almost impossible to crush

They are very big and very hard to break in half

She will not just eat them we have to break it into 4 sections and hide it in her food.

My dog likes them

My dog eats them right out of my hand, Don't have to try to disguise them in anything.
