About This Item
Carprofen is prescribed to relieve pain and inflammation caused by arthritis and other joint problems, so you can help your dog maintain her regular activity levels and quality of life. Carprofen may also help to reduce pain associated with surgeries and other painful conditions, and works by limiting your dog's production of prostaglandins, which are substances that can trigger inflammation. And since these uncoated tablets have a wag-worthy beef flavor, your dog won't mind taking his medication!
Proudly sourced directly from the manufacturer or their approved distributor. Guaranteed genuine and backed by the manufacturer.

Does not split in half well
After my dog's ACL injury, she was prescribed Carprofen in the dosage of 1/2 of a 75 mg tablet (37.5 mg). The vet gave me some to carry over until I could receive them from Chewy. The ones the vet gave me were small, oval & dense, which made them easy to split cleanly on the indented line just by placing my thumbnail on the indents & breaking them in half. The ones Chewy sells are large, round, hard & very crumbly. I could not split them with my thumb. When I split them on the indented line with a pill cutter they do not cut evenly. Instead they shatter & make a lot of crumbs. Right now I am giving her the halves that appear to be actual halves, but most of them are crumbled pieces that are not true 37.5 mg pieces
This prescription will not be renewed. It is a half inch diameter pill that must be cut or snapped in half. It is difficult to snap in half with fingers and a new pill splitter had much worse results with the pills in many very small pieces. Once the pill splits into very small pieces it tends to turn to powder. Expense wise, this was a good buy and a reminder to me that we usually get what we pay for.
My dog likes them. They are smaller than his old pills, which I like. If I have a complaint, I would wish they were easier to cut in half. These pills tend to crumble a bit.
Be sure to count them when received
Got 33% less or charged 33% more. Only 60 days of 2 pills a day comes to 120 pills ordered 180 charged for 180 only got 120. So now having next shipment 30 days early. Not good with inflation and fixed retirement income. C'mon guy's not that hard, and most pill counters are automatic if set correctly. Hope this is just a one off and not a money grab thing. Class action would be big right now.
Good generic substitute for Rimadyl
Much cheaper than Rimadyl and just as effective. There are a couple of cons. The pills say they are flavored, but my dog won't eat them unless they are in a treat. And splitting the pill. You cannot break it and a pill splitter won't work. What I do is put the pill on a cutting board. I take a chefs knife and place the blade along the middle of the pill where it is scored. Pressing the the handle and the top of the knife at the front slowly with even pressure splits it evenly. It is worth the hassle for the price savings.
Improves dogs movement
The veterinarian prescribed this for my senior dog. My dog mobility hasd decreased and she was in pain. About after a month of taking the Carprofen I noticed that she was more comfortable active and wasn't whimpering anymore. I started buying this medication from Chewy because it's 40 dollars cheaper.
Really Made A Difference......
My GSD just turned 11 this past December. She has arthritis, bursitis, and elbow callus issues. Getting up from a laying position on the tile floors is not easy for her anymore. I was hesitant to put her on this medication because she has a history of adverse reactions to medications. My vet gave me a few tablets to try and thankfully she had no reaction. The difference in her mobility and general mood is remarkable. Her eyes look alert again, she is back to playing with her toys and with the help of a ton of throw rugs, that she now lays on, getting up is not nearly as difficult for her.
Just to let you know, our order was to be received on Friday. We left town on Sunday for 2 weeks. Didn’t arrive until Monday. Fortunately we had enough to last til we get back. And fortunately it was put in our mail box, cause it would have been soaked if left out. My last couple of orders have been delayed.
dog ibuprofen works wonders
wow...our 10 year old dog was always struggling after a hard days work ( playing or guard duty at night) and struggled like me in the mornings. now with the carprofen she jumps right up again and takes off after wild animals in the yard and woods...her acks and pains have seemed to dissapear and gives her more quality time with the other dogs
Price is right...ease of use not so much.
Grateful to have this less costly option for arthritis maintenance, but these are very hard to split accurately, even with a pill cutter (I've tried several). On a good day, I get one half somewhat intact, and one half in bits and dust. Be prepared to get creative adminstering this.
