About This Item

  • Advanced, patented joint health supplement, in palatable granules with 3X Phycocyanin, antioxidants, Omega-3 Fatty Acids and other ingredients
  • Phycocyanin is a natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant derived from blue-green algae
  • Made with a Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein but without mammalian protein or grains so it's ideal for severely arthritic dogs with common allergies
  • Balanced blend of natural ingredients helps improve and maintain total body health in an easy-to-administer soft chew your dog will love
  • Phycocyanin is clinically proven to inhibit COX-2, an enzyme that causes inflammation, and is more effective — with fewer side effects — than similar ingredients in other joint supplements.

Questions & Answers

10 Customer Questions

Is this really hypo allergenic? It has corn starch and soy protein in it.
Answer by ChewyApr 24, 2018
The product does contain cornstarch, which contains no protein and is not normally associated with allergies in dogs. The soy protein source in the HypoAllergenic chews is hydrolyzed with a Dalton size of 850 Daltons which makes it unable to be recognized as a food allergen source (a molecular weight below 18,000 Daltons is considered to be hypoallergenic). We always recommend that the pet parent consults with their veterinarian before adding Phycox HypoAllergenic Chews into their pets daily treatment regimen.

Does this have safe levels, what are they, of sodium and phosphorus for a dog with chronic kidney disease?
Answer by ChewySep 07, 2019
Due to your pet's diagnosed condition, we recommend consulting your Veterinarian to see what would be a good fit for your little one's current treatment plan.

Does this contain green lip mussels?
Answer by ChewyNov 17, 2018
This supplement does not specifically contain green-lipped mussel. However, the Glucosamine used is sourced from shellfish.

If my dog is switching from another brand should he start at the maintenance level?
Answer by ChewyMar 11, 2018
If you're switching your pet from another brand to a new brand of Supplements it's best to start with the Initial Administration (4 - 6 week period).

Great supplement

My senior dogs have severe arthritis. I use the “max” for this reason and along with their prescriptions. When phycox is added to their daily diet, they seem to feel better. If took a couple of weeks but the difference is worth it. Any improvement in an old dogs movement is better than nothing. I do see improvements in mobility. The HA bite is a little too chewy for them, so i break it into pieces. My dogs aren’t crazy about the flavor, but eat it fine included in supper bowl.

Lacked moisture

These chews are extremely dry, my dog hardly takes them where before she’d gobble them down. They will expire in June 2022, but never had such a dry batch.

My dog hates it

This might be a wonderful product but my dog who eats everything hates it

Would NOT Eat Them

I don't know how these would work as a joint supplement because my dog, who is not usually picky about what he eats, would not even try them. He sniffed at the chew and walked away. I tried several days in a row and he reacted the same way.

My dog would die for these

My 6 year old Lab-Cattle Dog mix LOVES these, granted he is part lab and will eat anything and everything (But our picky Great Pyrenees will also eat it as well). My pup has pretty severe allergies and is on a hydrolyzed diet, so he can only have certain things. Although this product has Soy in it, it’s HYDROLYZED. Meaning, it contains the smallest amount to where the body does not recognize that it’s soy aka a possible allergen. I think it’s worth giving a try if your pup has allergies, we’ve been giving this for 2-3 without any issues.

Tastey help!

So, I read the reviews, prayed, and held my breath. The chews came quickly, well packaged. My dog who is eight years and ten months loves the chews. He’s only been on them for a couple weeks. Hopeful they’ll help!

Great product!

I have tried many different joint supplements over the years and seen no added benefit. My mom has been giving me Phycox Max HA now for 4 years. The benefits I have experienced are wonderful. I am soon gonna be 14 and still feel like a puppy. I know my mom will continue to recommend this product over any other OTC (over the counter) type joint supplement.

Great Product

This product works great for my Chocolate Lab. He has a sensitive stomach so other products didn’t work well for him. My vet recommended this brand that is Hypoallergenic and he hasn’t had any issues since we started using it. It’s a little early to see the full effects but so far so good. I would recommend this product.
