Questions & Answers

8 Customer Questions

Is this really hypo allergenic? It has corn starch and soy protein in it.
Answer by ChewyApr 24, 2018
The product does contain cornstarch, which contains no protein and is not normally associated with allergies in dogs. The soy protein source in the HypoAllergenic chews is hydrolyzed with a Dalton size of 850 Daltons which makes it unable to be recognized as a food allergen source (a molecular weight below 18,000 Daltons is considered to be hypoallergenic). We always recommend that the pet parent consults with their veterinarian before adding Phycox HypoAllergenic Chews into their pets daily treatment regimen.

Does this have safe levels, what are they, of sodium and phosphorus for a dog with chronic kidney disease?
Answer by ChewySep 07, 2019
Due to your pet's diagnosed condition, we recommend consulting your Veterinarian to see what would be a good fit for your little one's current treatment plan.

Does this contain green lip mussels?
Answer by ChewyNov 17, 2018
This supplement does not specifically contain green-lipped mussel. However, the Glucosamine used is sourced from shellfish.

If my dog is switching from another brand should he start at the maintenance level?
Answer by ChewyMar 11, 2018
If you're switching your pet from another brand to a new brand of Supplements it's best to start with the Initial Administration (4 - 6 week period).

Recommended by my Vet

I give one a day to my dog, which is under the recommended doseage for his size. He has been taking these since he was 2 years old. He is now 7 and has no hip issues whatsoever. I really thing this works.

Phycox Max

The vet recommended this product, and I'm happy to give it to my dog. She gobbles it down without problems. Since I just started her on it, I can't say how much it has helped her.

Stale....

I purchase Phycox from Chewy and Amazon. This order was stale from chewy.

Not palatable

Dog won't touch them. Turned out to be an expensive waste of money. Unfortunately.

HA but cannot get them in my pup

I was so excited to find a glucosamine supplement for my dog who is on a HA diet and also has arthritis and a bad knee. Unfortunately, he will not easily eat these. So far the only way I have tricked him into it is if I cut them into two and cover them in a pill pocket, then he will consider them. And if I then alternate a treat, marshmallows, of course for the HA baby, with each half, I can, over many minutes, convince him to maybe eat some of the pieces. Super frustrating for such a pricey product! I will keep trying and hope I come up with new strategies to help his leg and not aggravate his food allergies!

These chews work great!

Our 2 American Labs just love these chews and think that they are the worlds best "treats". They will do anything for them. They had been experiencing some back and hip troubles, but by adding these into their diet, they seem to be doing a good job. They are happy, so we are happy!!

Worth the price

This product is excellent. It is palatable for my pup and he takes it easily with or with out food. I compared the cost of buying the ingredients separately and this is really cost effective. sure beats trying to pill him or opening up a bunch of capsules. Also no worries whether or not he is allergic to any of the ingredients.

Great supplement

My senior dogs have severe arthritis. I use the “max” for this reason and along with their prescriptions. When phycox is added to their daily diet, they seem to feel better. If took a couple of weeks but the difference is worth it. Any improvement in an old dogs movement is better than nothing. I do see improvements in mobility. The HA bite is a little too chewy for them, so i break it into pieces. My dogs aren’t crazy about the flavor, but eat it fine included in supper bowl.

Lacked moisture

These chews are extremely dry, my dog hardly takes them where before she’d gobble them down. They will expire in June 2022, but never had such a dry batch.
