I have had this for years and have replaced the pump every 3-4 months. If my pets didn’t like it so much I would have been done with it.

Cleaning the fountain and motor is essential to the longevity of the product and the cleanliness of the water. For optimal performance, clean the fountain once a week and disassemble/clean the pump once a month. Filter cartridges should be changed every 2 - 4 weeks however, that can vary depending on how many pets are using the fountain.

We bought our first one about twelve years ago from a local pet store. It was only for our one cat, but he loved drinking from the large pool. We replaced the pump after six years, and finally had to replace the fountain because the minerals in our water had formed ridges on the basin. We are delighted that the new one is just like the old in quality and size, and our current cat loves it too. It arrived right on time and in perfect condition, as always from Chewy.

I got this for one dog and two cats, only because they share anyway. The basin is wide and deep enough for my boxer and the foundation is perfect for the cats. The

I got this for one dog and two cats, only because they share anyway. The basin is wide and deep enough for my boxer and the foundation is perfect for the cats. The only thing I had to adjust was taking the fountain cover off for the cats, they preferred it better that way. With the cover off it sounds more like a running stream which may be why.

It's just an overpriced water bowl. I will pay more attention to the complaints other users have experienced in the future.

Best fountain for multi pet household

I have 3 of these Big Max pet fountains for my 4 cats. They love them and I love them! I switched to metal because it was much healthier and easier to keep clean

I have 3 of these Big Max pet fountains for my 4 cats. They love them and I love them! I switched to metal because it was much healthier and easier to keep clean than the plastic Drinkwell ones I used to have. I routinely wash every component every two weeks as a minimum , which includes taking apart the pump and cleaning it. once it's cleaned I still blow through the middle portion and oftentimes a bit of gunk that still is stuck in there comes out! These pumps have to be cleaned regularly to function - I never knew that with my old fountains and wondered why they quit working. I've had these for 4 years so far and they work fine still. The capacity is huge and still I have to refill it a couple times a week in between cleanings. That says the cats are definitely enjoying drinking out of the fountains.

It is critical to follow the cleaning schedule to keep the parts and water fresh. I had a minor issue with the pump and the process under warranty was fast and simple.

I originally bought this for my dog, but after seeing how light weight it was, I knew he’d just knock it over, so I decided to use it for my cats. After less than a month, the pump stopped working. I did all of the troubleshooting and maintenance. I think it was just a faulty pump. I gave this a one start because I don’t think the overall design and construction is the best I’ve seen and it is definitely not the best fountain I’ve purchased. I excepted more, especially at this price point.

Cat fountain

My cats loves to drink from the faucet or shower floor so I bought this fountain in April 2017 and I am surprised how many negative reviews it has. Its been 8 years

My cats loves to drink from the faucet or shower floor so I bought this fountain in April 2017 and I am surprised how many negative reviews it has. Its been 8 years now sitting on my back porch with no problems. I am proactive though, replacing the filter assembly and pump about every 2.5 to 3 years. I replace the filter every 2- 3 weeks when doing a thorough cleaning using cleaning brushes no chemicals. I dump the water and rinse once between cleaning. Yes this is probably too much for some people but nothing is too much for my boys. Your all they have, be smart, be safe.
