My bird readily accepts brown perches, so I am thankful for that color choice. I bought the small perch first for my green cheek conure and it wasn’t helping his nails like I had hoped so I bought the medium thinking maybe bigger is better. The medium definitely works better for a green cheek! It isn’t going to file their nails down short but it does keep the tips blunt which is fantastic. I do have to play a game with my bird to get him to run back and forth on the perch because it’s not his favorite hangout, but he likes it because he associates it with fun and treats!
My conure liked the perch immediately and I was very happy with it until the sand layer peeled off in two separate areas of the perch. Although she enjoys rubbing her beak on the perch, she never chews it. I suspect it occurred as a result of wetness (after she takes a bath) breaking down the adhesive on the sand-infused layer covering the perch. I understand how things are made change over time, but I have many other sand perches that have lasted for decades and are still going strong. 4 months is unacceptable.
This perch is great. My eclectus is really picky about perches but he immediately went to this one & started polishing his beak. Love that it’s also very lightweight. Medium is the perfect size for him.
My African Grey already had 2 perches, but they were older. I ordered 2 new ones but only put one in the cage. Within 2 days of virtual, non-stop grinding, the sandy exterior of the perch was already gone. The perch is good, but exterior is no longer rough. I thought it would last longer. The perch is a good price, but I would have paid more if it would last longer.
They love them and getting used to them. THANK YOU!!
