Questions & Answers

2 Customer Questions

How big are these?

Answer by ChewyOct 17, 2023
Split Elk Antler Dog Chews are harvested from naturally shed antlers, so they do vary in size a bit. The chews are about 5-8 inches long and between 1-3 inches thick.

Are these suitable for puppies?

Answer by ChewyJun 17, 2024
These chews are generally suitable for puppies, but it is important to consider the size and age of the puppy. It is recommended to supervise your puppy while they enjoy the chew to ensure it is appropriate for their chewing habits and age and consulting with your vet if you feel uncertain.

I bought these split anter ears because I had previously bought some others, more expensive. My 2 small Cotons and my beagle mix LOVE them and I gave each 1 of them one of these split anter chews. The small dogs would’nt leave them alone and chewed constantly, but I noticed small splintering, sharp pieces coming off. I picked them up and threw them away without a picture, unfortunately. By last night we decided to just take them away from my dogs. They were not happy about that but I was afraid for them. Last night 1 of my Cotons threw up 2 times. Not sure that is related , but I would not buy this brand of anter ears again. I’m actually going to write Chewy to ask them to remove from their product line. I feel they are dangerous for any dog .

The antlers were cut nicely for easy access to the marrow. However these were extremely small. They are advertised as for all breeds, 5-8 in. long. The 3 in the package were 7, 6 and 5 in. long. However two were only 0.5 in. thick, suitable for toy breeds only. Anything larger breed runs the risk splintering.

I bought these thinking they would be a bit bigger, especially based on prior purchases of antlers and based on the pricing. These are way overpriced for what you get. The 3 pack is like one half of an antler I'm used to buying, but split into 3. For $40, that is crazy. And based on how thin they are cut, I can't even give them to my dog. What a waste. I hope Chewy pulls this product off of the site.

I should have read reviews before buying this one - these antlers are tiny. Don’t feel comfortable giving them to our dog or any of my clients big dogs. A 3 pack of pupford antlers weighs less than one antler out of a two-pack of buck bone antlers. Going back to Buck Bone next time
