Description

Buck Bone Organics Split Elk Antler Dog Chews are nature’s gift for your canine companion. Every year, wild bull elk across the United States naturally shed their antlers, leaving behind an incredible natural resource that just so happens to be a healthy treat for dogs. Buck Bones Organics collects and carefully crafts these antlers into the paw-fect eco-friendly, premium treat! They provide your pup with an excellent source of calcium phosphorus, manganese and zinc. And as your dog chews to her heart's content, the texture of the bone helps scrub away plaque and tartar to promote healthy teeth and gums!

Key Benefits
  • Single-ingredient chew is made with 100% naturally shed USA elk antler with no preservatives or gluten.
  • Split antler is extremely tasty due to its exposed marrow, offering your sidekick a much softer and easier chew.
  • Full of calcium, phosphorus, manganese and zinc so it’s just as healthy as it is enjoyable.
  • Completely free of odor and mess so that your dog can enjoy it indoors or outdoors.
  • Works to naturally clean their teeth as they chew so it’s great for oral health too.
Precautions

Please remove the antler from your pet before it becomes small enough to swallow, too difficult to chew, or if your dog try's to bite down instead of chewing (this will prevent hurting your dog's teeth). Please provide plenty of fresh water when giving any chew or treat. Because this is a natural treat, its sizing, color and appearance may vary—this is normal. You may also notice a natural scent and oil while your pal chews; this natural oil may stain your furniture, carpeting or other surfaces. To prevent injury and choking hazard, please watch your pet while they enjoy this treat and be sure to choose the appropriate size chew. If this product splinters or develops sharp edges, throw it away immediately for your pet’s safety.

    Great Chew!

    By on

So I know they tell you not to give chews like this to power chewers/ puppies due to the danger of cracking a tooth. I have an almost 5 month old power chewer who without something tasty and hard like this antler to chew, will immediately resort to less tasty things like his metal crate, my metal shoe rack or my beautiful solid wood kitchen table. But his favorite is metal. I have to assume that this can’t possibly be worse for his teeth than metal. It’s been a few weeks since he got this and most of the marrow is still there. This antler seems much fresher than the one we bought at the store. I am also happy with the size. Looks just like the picture!

My 62lbs Mastiff boxer X loves these. I get her the largest size and they are perfect for her. She does give them a really good go they hold up well but she is able to chew them up eventually.

    He absolutely loved it!!!

My vet advised me to try an antler for my 9 year old golden. My pup had snubbed the Himalayan Yak Chews but I decided to gamble on this item. I thought it would last for months as my vet suggested though it was gone in 3 days! That's the only downside but I will definitely order again. Plus, Chewy.com is so great they actually refunded the cost of the Himalayan Yak Chews bc my dog didn't like them. That's the kind of customer service oriented, smart business practice that will make this dog mom a loyal customer! Thanks Chewy.com for excellent customer service and a great selection of products!

    Love at first sight

    By on

Our old boxer loves his old whole antler piece, but it was getting kind of "sharp" on the ends, so we ordered this sliced antler. When we gave it to him, we set it next to his old favorite, and he went right for the Buck Bone split antler, and has not gone back to his old antler since (about a week ago). So, we are very pleased with this product and will order it agin when this one gets old.

    $20 down the drain

tl;dr - Total bust. Sadly, my dog had no interest in this. Pup got upset the more I tried to offer it to him. I'm still searching for the right chew products to help keep pupper's teeth clean and also keep him occupied for more than 45 seconds. After reading reviews I had super high hopes for this split elk antler — as evidenced by the fact that I spent $20 on this single item :-/. Turns out my bet did not pay off. I’m not sure if it’s the product or my dog. He seemed actively turned off by the marrow in this, which made me wonder if it was perhaps bad? He’s definitely eaten marrow out of the beef bones I’ve gotten from Chewy and I have no clue how different elk marrow is from beef tl;dr - Total bust. Sadly, my dog had no interest in this. Whatever the reason, he wouldn’t even chew on the bone after he got a taste of the marrow. I tried to get him excited about it with play and also soaking it in broth, but no dice. I ended up tossing this. It was sad offering it to him and having him duck his head, pull back his ears and clearly turn his head away from it. It looks super durable and I could imagine it would have a long lifespan for a dog that’s attracted to it. I’m just bummed that it was a hefty price to learn that my pup isn’t one of those dogs. … more

    Zeus loves these

My mixed breed (Shepherd, Lab, Rottie, maybe Doberman?) rescue loves these!! Hours and hours he chews. He gets them down to little nubs that I eventually toss out because I am worried he will choke. Highly recommend!!

    My Pitties Love These

    By on

I have a 1 yr old pittie and a 18 month old old pittie mix. Both are avid chewers. They like my baseboards, entertainments center and comforters the most. But once I found these, they keep them away from the things they shouldn't be chewing on. They are fanatics when they chew these. I actually have to take them away because they'd naw on them for hours if I let them. I've tried the whole antlers and they're not as crazy for them as they are the split ones. So glad I discovered these.

    Two Dogs and No Interest

    By on

Unfortunately, neither of my dogs had the slightest interest in these. One of the other reviews said these are gathered, not harvested, which I really appreciate, but some of the other reviews sound like ads?? My dogs are small and ten years old, so maybe the antlers are a better treat for a younger dog. They did like the himalayan chews tho. I'll give these to friends' dogs, and see if they like them better.
