Questions & Answers

24 Customer Questions

How high is the front side where my cat will step in. He is turning 22 this May and he is having a lot of trouble to get in the box. Thank you!
Answer by ChewyMar 24, 2018
The opening height of the Small and Large pan is 3 inches.

Is the small pan a good size for a small 4 lb chihuahua?
Answer by ChewyJul 26, 2018
The small size is recommended for small animals such as rabbits and the large would be recommended for small dogs and cats.

Is there a drawstring liner that can be used with the large pan?
Answer by ChewyMar 27, 2018
At this time, Puppy Pan doesn't make a compatible liner for their pans. Any liner can work for this pan as long as it fits the interior dimensions. The Small measures 20 inches long x 15 inches wide and the Large measures 24 inches long x 20 inches wide.

Does this come with the litter? If not, what is recommended?
Answer by ChewyOct 31, 2018
This pan does not come with litter. It's recommended to use litter suited for your specific pet. For example, if you have a dog use dog litter, if you have a cat use cat litter if you have a small animal use small animal bedding.

Too small for puppies

This is very well made and would have been perfect for my 2 new puppies but it is too small to use as a puppy pan for the 12 pound puppy even though it is large. Instead, I have repurposed it to corral all their toys. They love it!

LOVE THIS PAN!!!

I bought this because a pad alone does not have a guide to let my dog know she is off the pad and sometimes she urinates on the side of the pad and I end up with a wet floor to clean up. She took to it right away and it worked she doing all her business there! She is a small dog and only uses the pad because I'm not able to take her outside. I just ordered three more pans for different areas in my house, so happy this worked. I have two of the frames and was going to purchase more of them but they need to be cleaned because little wet tt's dripple but I have not had the same issue with the pan so far. I also love all I have to do is take the pad roll it up put a new one in without lifting up a nasty frame. YEAH!! life a little easer sometimes it's the little things thank you chewy.

Great for Seniors

My Dog is a senior Maltese who was wetting off the edge of the padded it soaked down into the grout in my ceramic tile. Threshold of this tray is low so no difficulty for her entering the pan and pad is almost a perfect fit. Took no training time. First time she saw her pad there, I placed one she had already wet inside, she was ready to hop in. Pads need to be changed more often because the sides cause her to wet in the middle more but so worth not having to clean the grout!

Puppy pan disappointment

I bought the large puppy pan since it said it was good for small dogs. I laid two pads in it each time. After using the pan for a few weeks I notice the urine smell was in the plastic. I tried cleaning it with different sprays but nothing worked. I even put it outside to air out but the smell seems to be still there. Not sure what to do. Seems like I wasted my money on what I thought was a good idea. Had anyone else had the issue with the smell? And how did you resolve the problem?

Sturdy, large, and low

I have two small rabbits who don’t love jumping up into their litter boxes. I hoped a lower and larger box would get more use and it’s mostly working. It’s ridiculously expensive for something that doesn’t use much more material than the cheap litter boxes BUT they are heavier duty and higher quality materials. Even when cleaning regularly my rabbit litter boxes get stained and gunked up quickly but this one has been easy to clean and, while it’s a little stained, stayed in decent shape. And yes, her attitude is as big as it looks. She is a lion head mix and around 3-4 pounds in size.

Liter Pan Odor

My Chiweenie would pee on the puppy pad in the liter pan. When I"d remove the soiled puppy pad the liter pan would smell of urine. Even after I'd wipe it down with vinegar and baking soda.

Great to prevent food/water accidents

I Use the small size to hold pet food and water bowls. Spills are rare because of the higher sides. If there are spills caused by playing pets, it’s all caught in the tray. The small size opens on the end, not the dide

Excellent product

This is how I trained my dogs to use the litter box indoors. What a blessing not having to go outside, especially when it is cold or rainy to potty. I use Purina Dog Litter and this doggie litter pan. This setup gets the dogs used to using the litter box and then you start expanding their area...like running around in kitchen only. Then if they're good in the kitchen, add another room, etc. I bought everything shown here from Chewys. Dogs usually won't pee on their pillow, so this setup trains them to use the litter box. Reward them with treats when they use the Box. The trick to successfully litter box training your dog, is to start in a small confined area and then gradually expand it. Oh I started out with pee pads on top of the litter, but now they only use the litter!!
