Is there any nutritional difference between the regular kibble pieces and the shredded pieces? Sometimes it seems that the bottom of the bag is mostly shredded pieces.

There are nutritional differences between the dry kibble and shredded kibble. For dual textured kibbles in cat or dog dry foods, the pet will need to eat both textures in order to receive complete & balanced nutrition.

Bad batch

My senior dog has been on the shredded chicken weight management for 2 years. He had always loved it and we never had any issues. The last batch we got was a nightmare, my husband and I were getting woken up at least 4 times a night having to take my dog to go potty and he had severe diarrhea. This went on for a week. We thought there was no way it was his dry food because we have never had an issue. We cut out treats, his wet food, his medicine, all one at a time separately and there was no change. I finally stopped his dry food and he immediately stopped having diarrhea. He hasn’t had an issue since we stopped and trashed his dry food. Totally disappointed bc this food was a great option for his needs. I’m scared to order another bag because I can’t afford to toss another bag and I also am worried I would get another bad batch. It’s a bummer. Before this I would have rated this food 5 stars.

She likes it!

Dry food tends to add weight so I always look for weight management food since my Pit mix easily gains weight and is sometimes picky with dry food choices. I was using one that was recently recalled so opted for the Purina as a replacement and she really likes more than her previous brand. This is a winner and we'll stick with it.

Something is changed

Purina has changed something in this food- My dog has eaten it for years and just recently he has not liked it. AND they have cut back on the shreds of chicken they put in it.. (the best part for my dog). I'm not sure if I will buy another bag or not. Quit skimping on the chicken

Great Company

Our once pudgy Beagle slimmed down on the Purina Pro Plan Weight Management dog food, but it is your company the we are most impressed with. Outside of Disney World they are the most courteous and helpful staff any customer could hope to experience. Orders are delivered in record time- very impressive. Thanks!

What changed?

The small breed chicken is what my mini doodle was fed and he would refuse as of late- I am waiting for a response from Purina as well because something has changed. My cockapoo eats the weight management and they both liked it but I have switched to Blissful Belly by Buffalo Blue entirely until purina comes out with a statement and the reviews change..

Be aware

I had been giving my dog Purina pro plan high protein for 7 months. No issues with my dog but the quality was really lacking. ( extremely crumbly with alot of crumbs mixed in) we just bought this version and my dog had two dinners on this and she woke up lethargic /salivating and vomiting ! After seeing some of these other reviews i immediately switched foods.

I have noticed that there has been a recent flood of one star reviews on the Purina Pro Plan dry foods featured on Chewy. I started noticing the reviews this summer. All of the stories involve dogs getting very sick. Some of these reviews may be very real! Im not saying I trust any dog food brand and perhaps there was a bad batch. It seems to me They are fairly quick to respond to any type of quality issue and doesn’t seem like there has been any news of this from dog food advisor or the FDA. I buy Purina Pro Weight Control, PP Sensitive skin (salmon and rice), and PP shredded chicken and rice regularly for my dogs and have done for years. I Haven’t noticed a big change in the kibble or the effect on my dogs over the years. I work as a dog trainer and have had many different dogs boarding with me. allot of them do really well on this food. Again, not a scientist a nutritionist or a veterinarian- just someone who purchases a ton of dog food because of my work. it just seems weird to me that all these reviews started being posted around the same time and on batches of food that wouldn’t be created together (for instance lamb and oatmeal kibble vs. chicken and rice). I think it’s totally possible that either a)purina really messed up or b) allot of the 1 star reviews are posted by a competitor or idk something weird. I hope Chewy looks into this and makes sure that people posting are real people and have actually bought the product.

Ripped box and one bag of food ripped as well

I lost about 1/2 of one bag of dog food outer carton was ripped and appeared to have been retapped. The other bag of food is ok, intact I only buy from Chewybut this was careless
