Only 4 stars due to size of kibble and very large chunks of dehydrated chicken. Must be soaked in water for our Tatra Mountain dog or he coughs/chokes. The shape of the kibble is great. Just very large. He loves the taste! I will search for the same formula in maybe a small breed size next time. This was an emergency purchase anyway to give him more nutrients and proteins to get through this wretched polar cold, so I didn't take enough time on the research aspect.
Out of all the dry food I tried this is the first my dog actually started to eat. She inhaled it the first few bites but then she started to pick only the shredded chicken pieces out... the next day she did the same. Then she stopped touching it all together!!! It's been a few days and she still won't eat it. Ugh! Picky dogs might not like this beware
We do Bulldog Rescue and have been feeding Pro Plan Chicken and Rice for years. Our experience the last several orders have not been good. The Chicken, is no longer there. I called and they replaced the bags. Guess what? No Chicken either. The little bit that was, was a powder form. Bullies didn't like that. I did some more research and it says that you are using Plant Based Chicken. Is this true? I will have to definitely have to find some food that our bullies enjoy.
My dogs, 3 and 1 1/2, have been eating Purina Pro Plan their entire life. They still love the food, especially when a new bag is opened. My complaint is the last 3 bags are full of dust/crumbs and a lot less chicken pieces. Also, this food can now be hard to come by…maybe they’ve lowered their quality standards and allowing crumbs just to produce food?? Anyway, the large amount of crumbs/dust, less chicken pieces and difficulty getting the food is, unfortunately, leading me to find a new food for my boys. Wish the quality didn’t degrade.
You know the crumby powdery bits that are always at the bottom of the bag? This ENTIRE bag was like this. I tried jostling it to get the crumbs to settle to the bottom, but it was so riddled with junk, every scoop was poor quality. I typically buy this at another store and decided to try out the convenience of delivery with Chewy. Never had a bag like this before.
My vet advised me to put my dogs on this brand of food because they have sensitive stomachs. I have noticed that there are a lot of extra crumbles in the bags but the actual food seems to be great because they can't stop eating it. My Husky and German Shepherd have tried all kinds of foods but will eat and want seconds every single day.
Tasha is my 11 yo German Shepherd. She is beautiful and healthy with the exception of a little arthritis. Her coat is shiny and her eyes are so clear and expressive. Her energy level is good also. She keeps up with her 4yo GSD brother. I contribute all these attributes to the Purina Pro Plan. She loves it and is eager when it is her feeding time. I definitely recommend this kibble for senior dogs.
A friend of mine and her dog ended up in a vet hospital one night after a scuffle and the vet told her to switch to Purina Pro Plan for her dog's health. She pass this info down to me so I've been using this ever since. This week at a routine visit to our vet he recommended Purina Pro Plan as well!
I recently switched to Pro Plan from Taste of the Wild upon recommendation from multiple vets. Reviews mentioned bags full of crumbs/dust, but no issue here! Shipped fast and came in perfectly. My dog seems to like the taste and texture a lot!
My dogs love this food and it’s the only one their bellies can handle but it’s so expensive and the last time it came with very little chicken pieces. Feels like it’s not worth as much as I’m paying, hopefully it was a fluke $90 bag.
