Purrfect Portal French Plastic Interior Cat Door, Black, Large

I was surprised that the door works just like life size double doors. To open one side you must turn the door knob. To open the other side you need to slip down a top latch. To hold the doors open there’s a side lock on each side. The windows are clear plastic. Not just cutouts. There’s a little doorbell, (not working) a molded shape, on the door frame. The lanterns fit in to cover the screw holes. On the website I thought the brown was kind of a weird brown, because it was so orange toned and not chocolatey, but it blends to my door perfectly. So now I’m like “huh, now I know my doors are a weird orange brown ok.” But it looks great. We have the xl and our doors have about an inch of lift anyway. So with that our 20lb tall cat has no trouble slipping through. It is easier if you take the door off the hinge. You’re going to need some type of saw. Jigsaw was great. Our doors turned out to be a hollow door. It seems it’s cardboard honeycomb between 1/8” board. The screw that are included are holding the parts firmly in place. We didn’t use any glue or caulk. The paper template is the right size, use the cut out template and not a tracing of the door. The whole process from start to finish took only about a half hour. The cats investigated and started using it immediately. I love it so much because now I don’t have to awkwardly prop my door open for the cats and can close my door properly for privacy. Awesome product, my cat is just too scared to go through the door. The real door has to be completely open for her.

Love that there is no flap like the older style doors. This was perfect for our house. The cats got use to the idea of their own door within minutes. Easy to install.
