My bun Mr Nibbles loved the thin green strands of this “premium” hay for several months until the last two bags both had many various sizes of jagged pieces of bones strewn deep within tightly packed folds of hay. At first I thought the tiny pieces were rocks (not that rocks are safer for vulnerable small animals to ingest). Upon closer inspection, the trabecular bone and dried marrow are evident between the smooth outer layers. I emailed the company directly and received a generic reply receipt from them stating someone would be in contact however, I’ve heard nothing since. It’s despicable this is even possible but for a company touting premium quality to not acknowledge a formal loyal customer is disappointing. See just a handful of bone fragments pictured below.
My rabbit LOVES this hay but now I have to make the tough decision to try to find something else bcos the price keeps being raised- not by a dollar or so- when I bought in November it was 32 and now it’s up to 40- and that’s from 25 when I first started looking at it. The smaller bag used to be 13! The cost isn’t chewy I’m assuming, and maybe the grower had to raise prices for an array of reasons- but unfortunately I can’t keep up with the hike.
I cannot be around Timothy hay at all and my bunnies would not eat it. I finally found this hay. I got sent the wrong size box once but another was sent the next day after call CS. That's the only issues I have ever had and that's a Chewy not a hay issue. My buns love love love it and it barley makes me sneeze so I'm happy too.
When ordering a box of "Mountain Grass Hay" I was expecting a box of something that would be grass like. What arrived was a box of what looks like mostly 1st cut timothy hay (ie all stalks and seed heads) and maybe a little grass mixed in. I have a few picky guinea pigs who wont eat timothy with too many sticks so not sure yet how well this is going to go over with them. My guess is a lot wont get eaten and this was a wasted experiment for a fun treat to give them
I bought a smaller bag and then 5 lbs and my bunnies loved the hay. Very good quality grasslike. The next 5 lb order was totally different. More like Timothy hay and bottom of container. Full of dust. Like night and day in quality. Hmmmm! Wonder why the drastic change?! Will give another try & see what happens.
My 5 bunnies go crazy over this hay. I like to mix up their hay selection a bit, so we tried this. It’s a good thing I got the big box!
When I first bought this i was just trying to find a hay that my bun would eat, he turned his nose up on every type I tried. Then I discovered the mountain grass hay (1.5 lb bag) and it was like heavens gates had opened. It was thinnner, softer and almost dust free. When I ordered the second time I ordered the 5lb box. It is DEFINITELY Not the same stuff and my rabbit won’t touch it. It is hard, full of leaves and looks like just the basic Timothy i can get at a big box store. very upsetting as I now how 5 lbs worth of hay that he won’t touch. I would buy again but only the small bag.
My cats did not like this Mountain Grass AT ALL. It was a waste of $20!
Excellent. Our bunny loves this item. Excellent. Our bunny loves this item. Excellent. Our bunny loves this item.
This hay used to be the best, now it's mostly sticks and timothy seed heads- no fine, thin strands of grass hay. I do not recommend buying it as their 2021 supply is NOT good.
