Soft wood pickets and latch is not secure

We have the Richelle room divider system and would rate it a 5. The room divider panels are metal with wood frames. I also have a similar room divider system from a different company that is 10 years old. The puppy hasn’t chewed either of them. As far as the Richelle swing gate uses wood- nope Problem 1 The swing gate uses wood for the pickets. Our 14 month old puppy figured this out before we did. She has not chewed the house for over 6 months. She made short order of chewing the pickets. Fortunately, I had an old crate divider that I lashed to the gate to slow down the process. Problem 2 The latch pin gets stuck inside the frame episodically. When stuck, the top lock doesn’t work I will be returning this gate for a different model. I am so disappointed as I like the concept.
