Right Choice Senior Pellet Horse Feed, 50-lb bag

I had been feeding Triple Crown Senior Gold to my horses, but the price has gone up and up. In looking for other options, one of my requirements was beet pulp as the first ingredient for my horses' gut health. I did not want to add it on the side and so many major feed companies change the "roughage products" with commodity prices. I don't know why I had never noticed this feed as an option. I use senior feed as a carrier/filler, with a top dressed mineral. After much hair pulling and trial of many brands, my horses will not accept ration balancer with added salt or omega oil, etc. One of them is a senior and receives 2-3 pounds a day of this depending on the season, the other is an air fern and needs something tasty in the least volume possible to get other things down. So far this feed has been readily accepted! The major ingredients are similar to the premium feed I was giving before. It is slightly less fortified, but still quite similar in levels, with the note that I do not see any added magnesium on the tag. The NSC of 19% max is slightly higher than I prefer, but based on the ingredients I believe they have built themselves a buffer and it is actually lower than this. There is no molasses, so I doubt it is higher than TC, which does include it and only provides ranges rather than guarantees. Overall, I would say this is closer to a premium feed than a budget feed and it is at a budget price. There's a few trendy ingredients it may not have, but those are also the ingredients that were unsure if they actually do anything or just make owners feel good.
