Questions & Answers

3 Customer Questions

Is this raw or cooked?
Answer by ChewySep 17, 2023
This treat is slow roasted to prevent any pathogens or harmful bacteria from growing.

Were these knuckles glazed or basted?
Answer by ChewyDec 14, 2022
This tasty and sustainable Western Cape Ostrich™ novel protein marinated in its own juices and wrapped in succulent tendons.

Do these splinter and are they safe?
Answer by ChewyOct 28, 2023
This treat is extremely dense and should not splinter as it is designed to hold up to aggressive chewing. The bone is 100% natural ostrich and contains no GMOs, no preservatives, no hormones, just the knee bone of the ostrich smoked in hickory and cedar chips. There can be some leftover tendon and or meat attached but it is completely digestible in small quantities. We advise all pet parents to watch their pup while they chew on any natural bone or part and to take it away if a large chunk is bitten off as that could pose a choking hazard.

Not as good as they used to be

My German Shepherd loved these in the past. I ordered between 20 and 25 per month, and she would chew on them for hours. Recently, they have been dry, and they last 15 minutes. The quality is not what it was in the past.

Not interested

I was excited to give my large dogs new type of bone chew on (I always give them their bones at the same time, I watch them as they chew on bones and take it away when they stop/rest giving the bone back for further consumption, bones usually last awhile. I gave them the ostrich bone and they were not remotely interested in it. Maybe cause it has no smell? Not sure. I’ve never seen my dogs turn a treat away but this one neither one had any interest in.
