When will this be back in stock????
Answer by cafkFeb 16, 2022
Royal Canin is experiencing supply chain issues, like many other companies. At this point they are prioritizing their prescription veterinary foods. https://www.royalcanin.com/us/product-availability

Our Great Dane has been eating this food. It’s the only one his stomach can handle. But I haven’t added water to his food previously...am I supposed to?
Answer by ChewyJan 17, 2019
Unless instructed by your vet, you are not required to wet this food. In the case your pet is having trouble managing the pieces or no longer likes the food, water can be added to soften it and increase palatability.

How big is the adult kibble? Is it as big as the giant breed kibble?
Answer by ChewyFeb 03, 2019
The kibble is approximately ¾ inch.

What is the calcium and phosphorus levels?
Answer by ChewyJun 20, 2018

Royal Canine Great Dane

My dog went after this dry food like I put steak in his bowl. He loves it! And the big chunks make him slow down when he eats and there aren’t little food pellets all over when he’s done.

Please never feed them this!

Read the ingredients and then any publication like the Cornell Vet School Dogwatch, or Dog Food Advisor, etc, and learn about by-products. The remaining carcass (bones, organs, blood, beaks, etc.) is what goes into pet food, known as "by-products," "by-product meal. And the first ingredient is fat (so they will actually eat the terrible food). The next several are awful fillers so they feel full but isn’t nutritious at all! Two actually cause GAS in the stomach, recipe for BLOAT! Why do they add natural flavor? If you’re feeding a quality food, foods you recognize as healthy when reading the bag, they have naturally good flavors. If you’re going to own a GD be responsible, look up Annamaet, Dr.Tim’s, Nature’s Logic, or Farmina. You’ll see a clear difference-actual food! All carry grain and grain-free varieties. Just be smart follow the rules, balance quality animal protein vs. fat Watch calcium/phosphorus ratio. They all add extra taurine but occur naturally in their foods too!

love hate relationship

first off i want to say how much i love royal canin foods. both of my dogs have been on it since i got them as puppies. a mini dachshund on the special breed formula and my great dane on the Giant Puppy, Giant Junior, and now the Great Dane breed formula. my dane LOVES his new adult great dane food, and the larger kibble makes it easy for him to eat and pick up pieces of his food. the only thing i have to complain about is it seems to always be out of stock which really sucks because it’s so great and i don’t want to have to switch brands or formula.. if there is anyway for you guys to keep more in stock it would be amazing, i like to keep the auto ship option active for my animals food but it gets canceled due to being out of stock. maybe reserve an amount for those who have auto ship or something?

Frustrated

I have been looking for this specific food for months. Finally got it, and my girl does not like it!! Not at all. Sniffs and walks away. After a couple tries, she ate a few pieces but that was it. I had to go back to the smaller kibble of Acana. I’m sure it’s just because she’s so picky. Other danes love this food!

My dog loves his new food

My Great Dane, Sully, is obsessed with this new food. He gets so excited you’d thing he’s eating a bowl of this favorite treats, but nope, it’s just a great food. I’m excited to see how he feels about the food in a few weeks but as of right now he loves it.

The BEST food for our Great Dane

We love this food and it’s wonderful to have it auto shipped. Don’t have to leave our home to find it!

My Dane Loves it

I always thought that Royal Canin was just pushed by vets. Until my Female Great Dane died in April of this year. Her heart just stopped and she had holes and enlargement. I gave her the best foods available and come to find out. That because each dog breed is very different a one size fits all is impossible when giving a giant breed large breed food. I now have a 4 year old English Mastiff and my Male Great Dane (that is on Royal Canin Great Dane) and wanted to make sure they are on a giant breed food tailored their size and breed. I did hours and hours or research and chose Royal Canin Giant Breed for my mastiff, Royal Canin Great Dane for my Dane and Royal Canin French bull Dog for, I bet you can't guess my French Bulldog for a variety of reasons. 1. Made and trialed for giant breeds and their individual make up. 2. The Kibble size is actually giant. 3. Chicken by product meal contains the WHOLE PREY and when broken down has the highest protein levels available. 4. Grain is used and has to be. With a grain free diet giant breeds can and will develop canine dilated cardiomyopathy. Which is wared about by FDA. 5. Royal Canin has and continues trials and is rarely at all formulated. yes a few blends are formulated very very few. 6. You get what you pay for in some instances this being on of them. and with Orijen, Essence, and countless others you do not. Please do not be fooled by words such as organic or healthy, or my favorite natural. these are product marketing. Especially earthy bags. Orijen uses a lot of muscle meats that are high in water content but when cooked at high temperatures to prepare the dog food for completion will loose significant nutrients that we barley there because the whole pray was not used. 7. yes dogs are descendants of wolves. However my English mastiff is a couch potato and does not need the extra ingredients of a German Shepherd will require. 8, I am very sick and tired of the currant 20 somethings thinking corporations like Royal Canin and Hills are not transparent . Where are the trials babe? Where are the trials? just because a company is small does not mean Grandma Sue and Uncle Joe are cooking your dogs kibble in thier off grid cottage in the woods where they are farming all the products. DO NOT CARE AS MUCH AS YOU THINK THEY DO. 9. The smell is amazing like Turkey dinner and the French know how to cook baby. and as much as this word makes me cringe the Kibble is moist there I said it moist. 10. Use the brain god gave you. research the product. You like reviews? that's cool but research so you know all the facts. 11. Better believe I love that Zip Lock bag. Your girl be keeping that kibble fresh. Dog food that goes bad can have ill effects on your Giant . you want clean up liquid loafs at 3 am be my guest. kibble that is fresh is best. 12. I love the name because giants are King. We are extremely pleased with Royal Canin for my English Mastiff, Great Dane, and our Frenchie. promise you will not be disappointed Canada you never disappoint.

Zayne's Mommy

This is a wonderful food. Too bad Chewy doesn't seem to be able to keep it in stock. It is time switch to another home delivery pet service. I find it odd that 3 others can keep it in stock and it is cheaper but Chewy can't. I did love this service and my furbaby did too, but he hasn't seen the box in so long he probably wouldn't remember it. It's kind of irritating and sad at the same time, because they have so many other good items. However, I have found the others do too with cheaper prices the more I look for stuff.

$$$ for Royal Danes

I had to purchase this item because the Royal Canin giant breed formula I normally feed my girl has been out of stock. This is a good food she eats it no complaints about the food. However, it is extremely expensive. This is only a 30lb bag rather than the 35lb as well. I have to do what I have to do for my baby. I would recommend the Royal giant breed over this food due to price alone. It is not so much superior that is makes my dog fly or anything. Eager for the giant line of RC to come back in stock.
