We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.
All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.
We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.
Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

No longer needed the Veterinarian urinary dog food because of the passing of our @3 year old Sealyham terrier. Only have one dog now a Shih Tzu, so we changed to this breed dog food. Did not have any problem in making the change. I’m
We just adopted a rescue dog from Uvalde, Texas. She was found as a stray. They believe she is around 3 1/2-4 years old who they think had a litter. She weighs 7.6 pounds. Our vet recommended Royal Canin. Maude loves her new dog food. We love her. She is very friendly.
Our vet recommended this dog food after reviewing the ingredients in his previous (very expensive) food, stating that the balance of proteins and grains were not correct for his age and size. He's a 20 pound 1/2 shih tzu mix, and in great shape for a 10 year old dog, but was getting too much protein. She suggested this brand and they had a shih tzu specific blend. Turns out our dog LOVES it, and so we had an auto-shipment come regularly from a local pet food supplier. Unfortunately, they stopped carrying it, so we ended up switching to Chewy. I was SUPER happy with the ease of purchase and how quickly it arrived without paying an expedition fee! Well done, Chewy. I'm surprised (new customer here).
When Royal Canin stopped their sensitive stomach for small dogs, we tried this and it is working well for our Shih Tzu Coton mix.
Chewy is Phenomenal. Our order was received in 3days.
My little Beautii loves this food dry or combined with the Shih Tzu wet food which is so hard to find!
Love this food for my little ones. The shape of the kibble is specific to their jawline. No more choking on food
I am in the process of changing my 10 month old shitzu from puppy food to this. So far he doesn’t like it and spits it out. I thought it maybe too hard so I added water to it but he still leaves it and only eats the puppy food. I had a hard time getting him to like the puppy food at first so I’m hoping he’ll get used to this. I have a big bag of it so I’m hoping he starts liking it soon!
If I leave it long enough she will eat it but she does not like it at all interesting enough we cared for another puppy for a few weeks on purina pro puppy chow she used to eat hers and she would steal hers big difference in price though at this point I would not purchase again
My Shih Tzu is really picky with her food, but ever since I purchased this brand, she has never had an issue with her food. I would also recommend buying it through Chewy, I save money and also have it on auto ship!
