Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

  • Not for Newfoundlands or Giant Breeds

The protein is way too high for giant breed puppies who need to grow at a slower pace than other breeds. Also, please research the ingredients in this brand of food. We have a 5 month old Newfoundland and a 9 year old Golden Retriever. I mistakenly thought this food (because of the title) would be a perfect fit for our Newfoundland. It wasn't and I regret feeding this to her for 3 weeks. I immediately put her on Victor Select and she is doing great!! What a relief. In a close comparison, Victor is clearly superior when it comes to the purest, best ingredients. It has a 22-24% protein content (1st ingredient is beef) and it appropriate for all age levels. Good luck!! We all love our dogs The protein is way too high for giant breed puppies who need to grow at a slower pace than other breeds. Also, please research the ingredients in this brand of food. • My dogs Love the FOOD.

    By on

Although reviews are meant for the products, I am taking the time to review the delivery process. Before, they were no tax involve and recently they changed that policy. I was disappointed but regardless I continue to be a customer. Also, I used to get the products no later than 2 days, and now I am getting my items 3 to 4 days later. I do understand there are delays etc, but not when it's a constant issue. As for the food, my dogs Love it. Basically I order two of these a month (or every 3 weeks) :/ 5 stars for the food!!!!

  • Waffles loves her new kibble!

    By on

It was suggested we stray from the "large breed" puppy kibble for our baby Saint Bernard and purchase the Royal Canin Giant breed puppy kibble. I'm so glad she loves it as it cost more but I think she'll be happier in the long-run. OF NOTE: Check the bag's ability to reseal!!! I'm always very careful to cut above the ziploc but there is some malfunction with it as the zip doesn't match up on one side - our puppy jumped on the bag leaning against the wall temporarily causing half the bag to fall out. We recovered about a quarter of that and had to trash the other quarter. It's on our counter now until we use up the rest of her old kibble...

  • Fantastic brand and Chewy is awesome!

    By on

Our St Bernard puppy loves this food! He gobbles it down. It's perfect for his rapid growth! He does not seem to experience knuckling over and other growing pain issues like giant breed dogs are prone to, which I believe is because of the carefully balanced nutrition of this food. Chewy is amazing, also! Always gets here to us within 48 hrs but usually its less than 24. We buy all of our pets foods here, now.
