This is only a guide. Optimal feeding amounts may vary according to your pet's temperament, activity level and environment. If you have any questions regarding your pet's health, please contact your veterinarian.
We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.
How are Royal Canin diets preserved?
All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.
Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?
We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?
Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?
Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.
How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?
Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.
How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?
Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

Puppy approved!
By Sara on Feb 15, 2021
I have now a 10 week old Great Dane. Started him on this food 2 weeks ago after he was on Nulo puppy formula. He was literally having diarrhea every hour and a half 24/7. After switching him to this formula, his poop is normal! And he’s growing like a weed like a Dane should. I really like the feeding schedule for anticipated weight as an adult indicated on the bag as well. When I told my vet he was on this, her reply was “oh good!”

Take it or leave it
By Newfy on Feb 13, 2021
Purchased the largest bag because our oldest newfoundland loves her royal canine satiety. Honestly when you open that bag it smells much better than ordinary dog food. Hoping the same for this puppy food. No such luck. It smells just like the rest, blah. Not inviting. Puppy is not interested.

Apparently Not Too Tasty
By PickyPuppy on Nov 10, 2020
I have a Great Weim puppy who turns out to be a picky eater. My vet says Royal Canin is typically the most tasty to dogs. My girl ate the first bowl, but after that she will skip eating for more than a day at a time, only returning to eat when the hunger is too much for her. So, on goes the search for something she likes.

Royal canin
By Nolie on Nov 23, 2020
This food did not agree with my 12 week old newfoundland. She had loose still and was scratching all the time. I need to change food but I still have too much of this food left so I've been mixing half and half with taste of the wilderness

Stellar Product!
By weebeastie on Oct 4, 2020
My bag arrived with no damage and the vacuum seal still intact. Our breeder gave us a mix of foods to make transitioning easier. There were obvious favorites right from the start, but we couldn't tell which. Then we started mixing the Royal Canin in. He immediately started picking it out of the rest and wasn't finishing everything else! He adores this food and I adore the quality. It's expensive, and only going to get worse as he gets bigger, but it is well worth it.

For an Irish wolfhound
By NewFerretMom on May 31, 2020
If you’re thinking about purchasing this food for your giant baby please do so. It has an amazing nutritional breakdown and royal canin has great customer service if you have any issues with the product. The only thing I wasn’t fond of is the size of the kibble itself. They’re quite huge chunks! Took my puppy some getting use to I personally would wet the kibble about 15 mins before feeding to make him. Overall great product for nutritional requirements, if your puppy doesn’t like it at first, give him a bit, might just not like the big chunks like my picky guy lol.

They love it
By GreatdaneOK on Jul 12, 2020
I've tried Blue Buffalo Large Breed Puppy, Science Diet Large Breed Puppy and others, but my Great Dane Puppies love this the most of all, they eat it like they're really hungry.

So far so good
By Annie on Jul 13, 2020
Our vet recommended this food, and our 14 week Great Dane Puppy just loves it. It seems to have helped firm up his bowel movements, as well. So far, so good!
