About Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Health For Dogs

Worried About Your Dog’s Digestion?

Your dog’s gastrointestinal (GI) system helps support the rest of the body by properly digesting food and making sure to extract the nutrients needed for overall health. Your veterinarian is the expert on your dog, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best gastrointestinal health solutions and management options for your pet.

Know Your Dog’s GI System

  1. Stomach: the first part of the GI tract, where inflamation may lead to vomitting.
  2. Small Intestine and Pancreas: where the small intestine is responsible for absorption of nutrients within the diet and the pancreas aids in digestion; inflamation of the pancreas may be cause by a high fat diet or treats.
  3. Large Colon (Tranverse): which is responsible for forming stool.
  4. Large Colon (Descending): which is responsible for forming stool; any alteration to this process may lead to constipation or diarrhea.
  5. Rectum: where stool leaves the body

How Nutrition Can Help

Talk to your vet about your concerns for your pet's GI tract health. Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin GI formula that is:

Easily digestible to help reduce the load on the gastrointestinal tract

Formulated with omega-3 fatty acids, EPA, and DHA to aid digestive health and antioxidants to support a healthy immune system

Highly palatable to encourage eating, even when appetite is decreased due to gastrointestinal upset

Balanced for good digestion, with a blend of fibers and prebiotics to support digestive health

Find The Perfect Balance

With a dry and wet feeding routine, dry food supports positive oral health while wet food supports healthy hydration.

This Food is Magic

I had a litter of puppies that needed to be weaned essentially overnight at 3 weeks because their mother was ill and put on drugs that affected her milk. After speed-weaning to the food I have been using for young puppies, they had soft stools that would not clear up with pro biotics, prebiotics, any safe remedy I could think of. I think the rapid change was too much for their GI tract to handle. They could eat white rice and chicken breast and get solid stool, but obviously a "white food diet" is not healthy for developing puppies for any length of time. The vet recommended this product and it was like magic, stools firmed up, puppies loved it, a win-win. They have been on it for several weeks now and it looks like they are finally tolerating my attempts to incorporate the puppy food I've used in the past, but I will definitely keep a bag in reserve if stool quality deteriorates.

Puppy's GI issue fixed!

Our 7 month old Pomsky has had consistent GI issues since we rescued him a few months ago. Our vet prescribed Royal Canin to try and resolve our happy little guy's digestive issues. The morning after his first evening meal, our happy puppy was vastly improved! Haven't had an accident since, and I'd call it very solid progress. (Pun intended)

Excellent though expensive

Vet had a difficult time getting rid of worms in my rescue dog. Once the worms were cleared my dog still had digestive issues. This food got him on track. He is now 10 months old and I have been mixing regular food with this and he is doing great. I will be weaning him off this food as he moves to adult dog food. Highly recommend this food.

great product

solved my 3 mos old mastiff puppy gi issues in less than 48 hrs. his poops went from liquid to perfectly formed. he did not have any infections, just has a sensitive stomach in general and apparently the ingredients in his previous food were just too rich for him.

Special Vet Diet

Jack loves this food and it has helped him to gain weight. When I first got him as a rescue he was very underweight with his ribs showing. He also went through a bout of kennel cough. He is now a happy, healthy 8 month old puppy.

FINALLY!!!

After five weeks of diarrhea, stool samples, x-rays, $600 in vet bills and endless chicken & rice preparation, we found a food that WORKS! Our 8 month old English Mastiff puppy, Jack, started having gastro problems after his 6 month booster shots, that got worse after giving him Nexgard for flea & tick prevention. Now, of course, Jack eats everything in sight, so when it started, the vet treated him with an antibiotic in case the rope from a toy that we had to help extract from his nether-region had caused an infection. After two rounds of antibiotics and a month of bland diet and probiotics, I was becoming frantic because the loose stool and/or diarrhea were not improving. After trying several other puppy foods, I found this one by reading the reviews and THANK YOU to all that wrote a review! IT WORKED WITHIN 24 HOURS!! And, Jack loves it! It's very pricey, so I plan to ease him into a mixture of this and his other puppy food, but I am so grateful to have found this and that his vet signed off on the prescription. My anxiety is lifting! We are only on Day 3, so I am cautious, but SO EXCITED for 3 days of perfect poop!

My Pup's Diarrhea Got Worse

I went to the trouble and expense of getting this food because my Standard Poodle puppy basically had diarrhea from 8 weeks. This food made it even worse. Liquid stool, full of mucus. I got Victor food and her stool got firm in one day.

royal canin GI diet for puppies

have a siberian husky puppy that had loose stools with treats , dry & wet food from other manufacturers. so I had ordered Royal canin GI, low fat for adults which firmed up his stool . This had worked for my Jack Russell who had pancreatitis . I was delighted when a GI diet was available from Royal canin for puppies. I have been mixing the adult version 50% -50 % with the puppy version with no recurrence of diarrhea . I plan on weaning him off the adult version over the next 1-2 weeks. Will give you an update .
