This palatable, digestible puppy food supports digestive health with high fat and calorie content, so you can feed your growing dog small portions to support their sensitive stomach. How do I order veterinary diets?
- Search for the diet your veterinarian recommends and add it to your cart. You can purchase your veterinary diets along with any other items you need.
- At Checkout, you'll be asked for your pet's name and veterinary clinic information so we can confirm that the item is authorized by your veterinarian.
- Place your order and we'll take care of contacting your veterinarian. If you have a copy of your authorization, you can expedite the process by uploading a scan or photo of it to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
If your clinic needs more information from you or recommends a different diet, we'll let you know immediately.
I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?
Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?
Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. Because these diets are formulated for medical issues, veterinary authorization is needed to advise you on the best way to give them to your pet and to monitor your pet's health while they are on the diet.
Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.
Can I set up automatic refills? Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. If you run out of refills or your authorization expires, we'll automatically contact your veterinarian for a new authorization.
What if I have more questions? How can I reach the veterinary diets team at Chewy?
Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com, start a chat on Chewy.com, or call us anytime at 1-800-672-4399. We're here for you 24/7.

Only thing that works
By Erin on Feb 24, 2021
Ever since our Berner suffered from a bout of worms around 10weeks, his GI track could not stand the food we brought home with us from the Breeder. We kept having to switch back to a bland diet and he wasn’t getting the nutrients he needed. Our vet recommended this food and we seriously couldn’t be more grateful. After a few months of success we tried to switch back like others have but the messy stools returned (poor guy) so we switched right back again and will be paying the exorbitant price tag from here on out. It’s worth it make sure he’s comfortable. Thankful that every 4 weeks this gets delivered quickly!

Our dog wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for this
By MiKe on Feb 19, 2021
Our poor golden puppy had an extremely bad reaction to a popular brand of dog food, almost not making it at only 9 weeks old. We tried many different food options and it wasn’t until our vet prescribed us Royal Canin GI food that our little boy started getting back on track. He fell extremely behind schedule on growth development and slowly started catching up once we got his GI system back in order. Now at 5 months, we keep this food on deck at all times to use in place of a bland diet when he starts to have a GI issue flare up. We truly don’t think if he would be thriving like he is had we not been prescribed this food. So good, love this
By gilburt on Mar 23, 2021
I love this food. My puppy was having a lot of stomach issues & diarrhea. The animal hospital recommended this food for my pup and it’s worked well. No more bloody stool or diarrhea. The smell is strong but it’s not unbearable. My dachshund also has sensitive skin & it hasn’t messed with his skin or coat!

Gag! The smell of the food is horrible! Pup has terrible BO now
By Jenn on Feb 19, 2021
My pup, Luna was having some GI issues, so her Vet suggested I switch to Royal Canin GI for Puppies. The odor of the food was terrible, but I wasn’t the one eating it, and Luna seemed to like it. I kept mixing it with her old dog food to ease her into eating it. Once she was on it full time, her breath and body had a horrible fishy smell. I keep her very clean, with weekly baths, teeth brushing, and dental bones, plus she’s only a puppy. She should not stink like this. The more she eats this food, the stronger the odor gets. I can smell her from several feet away. I’m done! It’s making me gag so badly. No matter how clean we keep her, we can’t get rid of that smell.

Excellent food!
By Nickname on Jan 22, 2021
This brand came as a recommendation from my vet. My now 7mth old boxer had spent an entire month sick (gross poop I couldn't even pick up). He had been on, since I brought him home, another brand of dog food + it was going fine - or so I thought. This month was brutal! He was so sick, was skin and bones + every test the vet ran came back negative. The only thing left was the food he had been on for months. I ordered the smaller bag (along with a probiotic, which I'll review next) and within 48hrs my boy was back to normal! He absolutely loves this food. It is very teeny tiny pieces but he has had no issues. His movements are normal and I can pick them up with ease now. Fingers crossed This brand came as a recommendation from my vet. This food is NOT cheap but I honestly am so thrilled w how well he has done, how great his coat looks and that he is finally gaining the weight he lost! I don't care what it costs. … more

Not a fan of this kibble
By Willa on Jan 18, 2021
My puppy was having bouts of diarrhea vet suggested this food. I tried it and at first bag my pup loved it. Fast forward order another bag my pup won't go near it. I have to supplement with canned tuna, boiled chicken or sardines to get her near this. Also her skin and coat looked gorgeous before I put her on this vetdiet now shes like a snowstorm of dander and her coat has lost its shine. Luckily Chewy is amazing and refunded the purchase price. I am now on the hunt for a kibble to bring my pups coat and appetite back.

Worked well for my dog
By Bowmancrew on Dec 31, 2020
The vet prescribed this after my new puppy had diarrhea since we brought her home and none of the other digestion puppy food helped. she was living off of rice and chicken which she loved but was not giving her the nutrients that she needed. Within 24 hours of using this food her stools started to get formed and they have continued to be healthy looking stools. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five stars is because I would really prefer giving her food with less chemicals. But for right now it has really helped her get the nutrients she needs. We have been on this for 3-4 months.

This food changed our life
By DogMom on Jan 9, 2021
This food has helped my dog a lot! It was a struggle before we found this food that helped his stools firm up and he is more regular. He likes the food so it is easy to use. Chewy made it easy to order even with the vet prescription. The food was not available locally and Chewy delivered quickly so that was also nice. My puppy was 5 months when he started having loose stools and it took some trials to find something that would work so this was great.

Fabulous for my Golden Puppy
By TrumansMomther on Dec 15, 2020
My golden retriever puppy has not done well on any food but this. After months and months and months of loose stool to diarrhea, Truman finally had solid stools on this formula. After a couple of months of doing well on it we transitioned to a sensitive stomach puppy food over the course of a month (because my poor bank account). He was good for a while but then the diarrhea returned. We are now going back on this food. It would get 5 stars if it weren’t for the high price tag. But. Anything for my boy’s health.

Improved my dogs gut health
By RogersMom on Feb 5, 2021
We struggled with GI issues for 6 months (along with parasites). The fortiflora probiotic seemed to make no difference and then thankfully my vet suggested this. Never been more relieved/at ease that my puppy isn’t in pain or extreme discomfort!
