how do you clean the hair off?

Remove excess hair with your hand, rinse with clean water, and then soak. After soaking, your brush will still have some residual dirt or hairs clinging to the bristles or pad. You can remove this remaining buildup by rinsing it in clean water and then lightly shaking it to whisk off any excess moisture.
Does this work on poodles

This comb will work on all dog breeds.
What are the bristles on this brush made from. My constant companion doesn't care for metal wire.

The bristles are metal and has its tips coated to gently and comfortably remove tangles and loose hair.

Does a good job

I bought this brush as my old slicker brush was wearing out after years of use. I selected this brush because of the tiny tip covers. My Tibetan Terrier's coat has thinned with age and the old brush was a little too harsh. This brush works very well, but because of the covered tips, it can get stuck in the mats and tangles easier. Just need to take it a little slower when brushing to allow for the drag of the tips.

Good slicker

I bought this slicker for my long-haired Maine coon. It's worked well. Only one note - a plastic comb base is not perfect, but it doesn't affect to brushing.

Nice feel!

Great brush and feels good in the hand. Only issue is cleanup. It's worth spending the extra $$ on the self cleaning version.

ONLY slicker brush my dog will tolerate

I own a 45ish pound goldendoodle with tight poodle curls. She was a rescue and there were no signs of the previous owner taking care of her coat (grooming, brushing, etc.). I purchased a couple other slicker brushes that she wouldn't let me get ANYWHERE near her with. The tiny rubber tips on this brush makes it a more comfortable experience for her. Been using it for 3 months daliy with minimal signs of bending/wear. LARGE POODLE MUST-HAVE!!!

Doesn't work with my sheltie

I have used slicker brushes for decades with my shelties. This is the first one I have tried with the coated tips. Although they may be a good idea for some breeds, they add considerable resistance as I brush through my dog's thick undercoat causing him discomfort. The brush seems to be well made. It just won't work with my sheltie's coat.

Slicker Slices Through Tough Coat

Our Shih-tzu does not have a silky coat. His fur is like your living room carpet. Try brushing THAT! After several years of testing different brushes, I am pleased to have found the Safari slicker, which cuts right through his tough coat. This brush has cut our grooming time and he looks beautiful.

Very inferior to the Christiansen brushes

The brush is quite inadequate. I purchased it because the Christiansen brush I normally buy was not available. This brush does not work for me, so I ended up buying a substitute Christiansen brush, even though more expensive. If I had the time, I would return this one.
