About This Item

Details

Selegiline HCl is an oral prescription medication used to treat cognitive dysfunction and senility in older dogs. It can also be used to treat Cushing's disease when it is caused by a pituitary tumor. Since this medication is a selective monoamine oxidase-B inhibitor, it may enhance catecholamine neuroactivity and increase dopamine levels in dogs. Selegiline HCl Compounded capsule is a white elongated capsule made specifically for your pet.

Please note your capsules may be either blue-white or all white. There has been no change to the medication's strength or quality; this only impacts the capsules' size and appearance.

My dog turned into a different dog at night. All the sudden he was afraid of shadows, he would wander all around my house withhis tail between his legs and shaking. It was awful, five months long. My vet started him on this medication and he is his oldself! I could not be happier. I highly recommend this medication!

I think it caused Serotonin Syndrome

My dog started to experience all of the signs of Serotonin Syndrome - Restlessness, anxiety, heavy panting, etc.. I'm stopping the drug to see if he has improvements

My dog started to experience all of the signs of Serotonin Syndrome - Restlessness, anxiety, heavy panting, etc.. I'm stopping the drug to see if he has improvements. These symptoms began increasing the longer I gave the Selegiline.

Kobe has "Doggy Alzheimer's". Pacing, circling, panting and occasionally losing housebreaking- like it took him by surprise. The Veterinarian we use suggested selegiline. I figured it would either work or wouldn't. I wasn't looking for him to act like a puppy again but, at least give him some calm and reduce the pacing. He has been on the low dose for 1 week and already he seems brighter and will walk to the door to go out now. He is still pacing during the day but sleeps through the night. He may need to go onto a higher dose but won't know for a few weeks as it takes a while to get the blood levels correct on the meds. But, so far so good.

Life Changer with an Senior Suffering with anxiety

Vet prescribed this as my old fellow was getting forgetful, confused and constantly pacing but not sure where he was supposed to be going - sleep almost ended. After 4 weeks and figuring out the best dosage for him, this has completely settled him back to his old self (he is 16+ and had enough to deal with). Thrilled that he now has a much better quality of life, and is able to sleep and rest again.

I put it in cheese then peanut butter , He still spit it out. I went to pill pockets and he swallowed the medication. He began to go on walks again and pay more

Selegiline Made My Dog Sick

Unfortunately we had to stop giving Rosie this medication. We tried giving it to her with her food in the morning 3 days in a row and she threw up her whole breakfast
