This product does not contain gluten.

How much food does a 6# box make when reconstituted?

Answer by ChewySep 17, 2025
To match your dog's preferences, rehydrate the food by adding approximately 3/4 cup of warm water or bone broth for every cup of dry food. The 24 oz box contains about 9.25 cups, the 48 oz box contains about 18.5 cups, and the 96 oz box contains about 37 cups.

We have tried many different foods. We have a very old rescue dog who is picky now that he’s older and a younger rescue dog that eats anything. They BOTH love this food and it’s so easy to feed. It’s a clean food and you can tell it’s great for them because their coats are healthy. We are thankful that a dog food company decided to help out pets and their parents!

My 2 yr old Cavapoo has been on freeze-dried for several months. I had tried two other brands. One was too expensive to keep it. The other had one consistent flavor of morsels and she required some small amount of topper to eat it, which was discouraging with an expensive food. Then I tried Simple Food Project! Their product has morsels with more than one flavor in the same bag. She LOVES 2 of the flavors and will come back to eat the rest with NO toppers! Simple Food Project freeze-dried is a keeper

I really wanted to love this food it has everything I’m looking for in terms of ingredients and the way it’s made but it’s expensive when all you get is half powder

My dog is not crazy for this food at all. The first flavor I bought was the Salmon and Duck. He didn't care for it. So, I had to add a little of soup broth and human food like shredded chicken to it to make him eat. Then I decided to try another flavor to see if he would find it more appetizing. I switched to the Beef and Salmon and he's still not crazy for it. He'll come over sniff it and walk away. Even adding water whether it's warm or room temperature, he won't eat it. I had to add some soup or broth and a little of taco monterey jack and cheddar cheese on top. That's the only way he'll eat. Not sure if I want to stick with this brand as it's not working. I might have to switch back to Stella and Chewy Beef patties which he comes running for. The only thing is, I have to use my hands o break it into pieces which is annoying because I have to wash it after.

Just the visual of this food is impressive!

Too soon to give it 5 stars, as we are still slowly transitioning Olivia from her dehydrated food to TSFP freeze-dried food. So far, she loves it and Mom is pleased

Too soon to give it 5 stars, as we are still slowly transitioning Olivia from her dehydrated food to TSFP freeze-dried food. So far, she loves it and Mom is pleased about the healthy ingredients and vitamins/minerals coming from the ingredients rather than synthetic add-ons. You can actually see the pieces of protein (in this case Beef & Salmon) and veggies. So far, my fur-girl is tolerating the new food very well and seems to love it! I am also pleased that this food is developed by a Vet. I will do a follow-up review in a few weeks after Olivia has been eating this food for awhile.

Excellent dog food.

Remi loves this food, my favorite things are healthy segmented stools, and his urine doesn’t burn the grass like Purina Puppy Chow did.

Great quality:price ratio. My dog has been eating this (and two other Simple Food Project recipes) for the past two years and he loves it! I'm glad they finally started carrying it on Chewy, for the convenience. Still, it's cheaper to buy it directly from the manufacturer, but while we were on vacation, I needed some extra food shipped to us, and Chewy's shipping seemed to be faster. Anyway, this stuff is more expensive than kibble, but I feel it's worth it for the high-quality ingredients. My dog and I are huge fans of this brand.

Best Pre-Made Food We Can Find!

Pups love this food and it’s the healthiest option I can find that’s pre-made. Beef is grass-fed (I need to verify if this is still true) and wild-caugh salmon

Pups love this food and it’s the healthiest option I can find that’s pre-made. Beef is grass-fed (I need to verify if this is still true) and wild-caugh salmon. No synthetic vitamins which is a VERY tough find!!! We can just about afford it, if the price goes up we’ll have to find an alternative or keep using it mixed with half kibble. All in all a pretty amazing product.

Nice mix, easy to rehydrate.

Smells good, rehydrates easily, easy to store and serve.
