Powerful smell, lots of lather
I received Simple source flea and tick shampoo free in exchange for review. The smell is more of citronella I think, I would prefer to smell more cedar wood, or something else. A little bit of the shampoo goes a long way, which is great when you have a large dog,and more than one. I'm not sure how well it works as a flea and tick repellent yet, I haven't seen any on either dog since their baths. This shampoo did not help my Argentine dogo's itchy skin (allergy sufferer) and it definitely didn't ease the other dogs itchy dry back. Overall I think the smell is different and unique, dogs smell clean. I would keep a close eye on ticks especially with this one, as I am not sure how well these more natural products actually work.

Simple Source Dog Shampoo is my new go-to! My dogs do not have fleas but we live right next to the woods and they like to play outside and it is tick season so I have found some creepy crawlers here and there that have caught a ride into my house by the dogs. Having a shampoo that helps keep the ticks away is a life saver as I have strictly inside cats that I don't want to get ticks. I love that it's all natural. The essential oils make the shampoo smell SO good!! And the smell actually lasts on my dogs for quite some time after they dry. This doesn't dry their skin or fur out like other "natural" shampoos have in the past. I don't see them itching afterwards. The consistency of this shampoo is a bit thinner and not as "gel" like as other shampoos that I am used to but it still suds up and a little goes a long ways! I really enjoy this and will be repurchasing once this is used up! I received this as a free sample program but my review is my own honest opinion.
USE AT YOUR DOG'S RISK!!!
5 star reviews does not mean this product is safe! A 1983 study in the Journal of the American College of Toxicology (1983, Vol. 2, No. 7) researchers noted the longer SLS was in contact with the skin, the greater the chance of irritation. The study goes on to recommend that, “[i]n products intended for prolonged contact with skin, concentrations should not exceed 1%.” This product contains 6.1% !!! The instructions for this product advises to leave lather on your dog for 5 minutes. Use of this shampoo is the only change in my dog's life. She spiked a prolonged temperature higher than 105 degrees along with heavy panting! I'm watching her closely and hopefully she will recover as vet bills can be out of sight these days. Plus the cost for this poison was also expensive.
Great for mosquitos and tick season
Works great as an extra layer of protection against mosquitoes and ticks! I’m out in the mountains so ticks are in full swing right now and even with my dogs chewable monthly tablet for fleas and ticks and heartworm I’ve seen ticks on her. I gave her a bath with this shampoo and after she smelled like essential oils, the smell that ticks hate! Thankful to found a product to help protect my girl and not break her out (bully breed with sensitive skin) Will recommend to all my friends and family who love their fur babies like family and want to protect them as much as possible!
Sensitive Skin Approved
I received this product in exchange for an honest review. Let me say I have a large German Shepherd with long fur and it takes a good amount of soap to wash him up. This soap was very nice and created a great sud. I was concerned my dog had fleas and bathed him in this twice roughly a week apart. This soap worked really well and didn't seem to dry him out at all. Got my dog very clean and I end up finding a few fleas the first bath but none the second. I consider that a success. I will be buying this myself in the future.
Slightly better
My dog already had fleas. I found this product to be mildly helpfull, however it did not solve the problem even after thoroughly going through the house. Might work as generally preventative.
winning my battle against ticks!
Every summer like clockwork It is a constant or against ticks in my backyard, dog park or just on walks around the neighborhood. I’m glad I was able to find something to tackle them on a periodic basis. I have the peace of mind that I’m treating my dog with something that won’t hurt her, and is still effective. My dog enjoys the nice lather of the shampoo. She comes out squeaky clean without an offensive lingering smell. I recommend this to anyone that struggles with constant ticks, and the occasional fleas that can get caught from dogs at dog parks. I received this product as part of a free sample program.
Kills all fleas but dries skin
I tried this product on all 3 of my dogs. I have a 7 lb min pin with semi-sensitive skin, a 25 lb min pin mix with the worlds most sensitive skin, and a 8 lb rat terrier mix with no skin sensitivities. I used their regular shampoo for their faces and body regions that this shampoo isn’t safe for, followed by this shampoo on the rest of their body. I received this product in exchange for an honest review. This product certainly lathers up wonderfully with a nice (not overpowering) natural scent. I used it on the back of their necks, backs, bellies, and legs. All of the fleas absolutely washed off with this product. It had a great cleansing feel as well for how their fur felt before and after their baths. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to remove fleas and flea eggs off their pups without using harsh chemicals. The only downside was that this product was extremely drying on all 3 of my dogs skin. After they were all dried off it didn’t take but an hour or so before they all started itching with noticeable dandruff, and if worsened for all 3 of my dogs the following day. Yes the product works, and I recommend it for getting the job done, however just keep in mind it may not be the first choice for anyone who has dogs with exceptionally dry or sensitive skin, as this product did seem to heighten that on 3 different dogs if different breeds.
A New Tool in the Fight Against Fleas and Ticks
I live where I am surrounded by grass and trees, so flea and tick prevention is a must. Once the warmer weather hits the bugs seem to come from everywhere. I received this as a part of a free sampling program in exchange for my review, so here it is- this is a new must have in the fight against fleas and ticks. I used this on my medium haired Chihuahua a week ago and the fleas we've been battling are next to gone. This also left her fur soft and smelling fresh with a slight lemony scent. I will definitely be keeping this in the inventory for extra power against fleas and ticks.
Works great, However the scent is REALLY strong
I received this product In return for my honest review/Opinion of this product, I’ll start with the pros First of all I love natural products so this is what immediately drew me to the Simple Source Flea and Tick Shampoo, it’s a great alternative to some of the other items on the market. It lathers Really nice and yet is still easy to rinse off which is a nice suprise, it doesn’t leave any residue or dry skin behind.I could use it for both my large breed dog and small breed dog without issues. The only real con to this item is the smell of the product is INCREDIBLY strong. The lemongrass scent kicks you in the nostrils and it lingers for a while this is the second day and my Dog still smells of lemongrass. I would still recommend this dog shampoo to anyone who wants an alternative to harsh chemical filled flea and tick products.
