If this product splinters or develops sharp edges, throw it away immediately for your pet's safety.
100% Natural Beef Rib Bone.
Always provide your dog with plenty of fresh water when feeding any type of dried treats or chews. Intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only. Supervision is always recommended when you give your dog a bone. Smokehouse Pet Products goes to great lengths to insure a safe product, but we suggest you pick a suitable size bone for your dog. We suggest taking any bone away that becomes small enough to fit in your dogs mouth. In addition we suggest removing any small pieces that your dog has chewed off.
I was very disappointed in these bones. They splinter badly. I gave my black lab one of them and I was so concerned he would choke on them that I eventually had to steal the pieces when he wasn't looking. They splintered into very sharp pieces. I have always been told not give my dog cooked bones due to splintering, so clearly these are cooked and they do splinter. Be aware.
This product splinters into small sharp pieces that can potentially lodge in the throat. If you do give it to your dog, be sure to be present while the dog enjoys it. I wound up tossing the product, not feeling it was safe for my 9 mo lab.
These bones are a hit with my dogs. Unfortunately they are not the same size. One is quite a bit larger than the other so one dog finished his way before the other and then a fight started
These were literally half the price a few months ago, I used to buy 20 of them at a time for my two Rottweilers. The dogs like them but the price is way to high now. Sad.
I should have read the reviews first, I bought 2 for my dog and it splinterred into dangerous shank like shards, I got all I could away from her but she had already ingested some of it. I wish I would have thought to photograph! It's been 2 days but I'm still monitoring her closely, and watching for dark stool indicating blood. I am TERRIFIED one of those shards is going to do damage coming out. This is a horrible product! I have always trusted Chewy, now, not so much. I threw the 2nd one in the trash.
We took it away because it splinters into a bunch of pieces and we are concerned about that going through digestive system of our dogs. Not buying again unfortunately.
Both of my 40lb dogs had less than a minute with these before they splintered. I guess they roasted them or something and I didn't realize. Disappointed dogs had them taken away immediately.
Within ten minutes my golden retriever was able to break these into sharp pieces and tooth-pick-like shards. I had to take it away as he ingested some of the sharp pieces! Not a brand I would recommend. He has had rib bones before that are indestructible, I will still to that original brand
I have a large dog and she’s a really intense chewer and she demolished this within an hour I had to take it from her and she started throwing up.
I was excited when these bones arrived because they were much larger than expected. I have two large dogs that are big chewers and I was looking for something that wouldn't be eaten in 5 minutes. Within the first 30 minutes these began to splinter so badly. I am talking sharp and dangerous splinters that could easily puncture your skin. These bones went directly in the trash along with the others I had purchased . I looked online and began reading how rib bones are known to splinter and should be avoided, as they can cause internal damage or even surgery these fragments. I will definitely not purchase these again. It is crazy to think that something that costs only a couple of dollars could lead to a vet bill for hundreds or even thousands if surgery is needed.
