About Stella and Chewy’s

In 1997, Marie Moody adopted a dog named Stella from a local animal shelter. She soon decided that Stella needed a companion and adopted a sick pup named Chewy, who joined the family and helped forge the company’s history. On the advice of a veterinarian, Marie began feeding Chewy a raw diet to help with his health issues. He quickly recovered, and both he and Stella thrived on their new food. The experience led Marie to pursue her passion for pet nutrition and start her own business—Stella & Chewy’s.

How do you prevent salmonella, listeria, etc in freeze dried treats?

Food safety is always a concern, especially with raw foods. Stella & Chewy's takes every precaution with their SecureByNature food safety process that's recognized by the USDA and FDA. The ingredients undergo a special, 100% natural cold-press process that creates water pressure similar to that found near the ocean's floor. No harmful bacteria can survive, and there's no heat to damage nutrients and diminish flavor. Each batch is tested by an independent lab, and the results are even posted online for you to see.

We package our products by weight, not by piece count. Additionally, the hearts are not whole hearts, but rather diced pieces. Because of this, we do not have a way to determine the number of hearts in the package.

Do these have any sodium?

As these are single ingredient treats, Stella & Chewy's do not measure the mineral content in these products since they’re not designed to be used as a food, but instead as a treat. They do not add any other ingredients to the single ingredient treats, so the Sodium would only be what is naturally occurring in the meat.

Great!

Got this for my diabetic cat and my huskylab. Both love and it only has one ingredient protien so it.wont spike the cats sugars. Great to crumble over the food

Its costly but for health reasons way worth it. Only down is I wish it came in a better resealable bag the zipper doesn't last at all.

These chews were our dog's favorite for years however they have recently changed their cooking or prep for these as they now have no color or apparently flavor for

These chews were our dog's favorite for years however they have recently changed their cooking or prep for these as they now have no color or apparently flavor for our pup. The treats previously had baked in goodness, slightly oily and very tender. Now they are tough, hard, colorless and not a favorite, in fact our dog won't even touch them. Sorry that Chewy changed these treats.

Love that this is a single ingredient! I feed my dog a fresh diet and struggled to find chicken hearts at the grocery store, but this was a good option. BUT be aware

Love that this is a single ingredient! I feed my dog a fresh diet and struggled to find chicken hearts at the grocery store, but this was a good option. BUT be aware - if your dog has a tendency to snarf food and choke on items, these can be a choking hazard if fed whole. My dog handles them fine and absolutely adores getting them as a snack, but my brother's dog tried one and got choked up.

The Most Cost Effective Option

We have 4 dogs and treats are counted as part of their food per day. Dehydrated chicken hearts are strongly loved in our house and I certainly am not preparing them

That they are chicken hearts which are no longer available in grocery stores.

One of my cats cannot tolerate processed foods. I cook his food but can no longer buy chicken hearts at the grocery store. I don't feed raw food but i add one

Lower cost than other sprinkle food

The hearts are actual full sized, intact chicken hearts. Almost odorless, which I like. My dog will stare me down waiting for the 3 chicken hearts that I add on
