When it comes to transitioning to any food, a slow transition over 7-10 days is recommended; it is the same case when transitioning to our food too. To start, we recommend mixing the new food in with what you're currently feeding and slowly building up until the new food is the sole food that you're feeding/that your dog is enjoying. Even if your dog isn't eating their current diet, it's important to start off small with new food and introduce it slowly, as sudden changes to diet can cause digestive issues.
I purchased this food because Stella & Chewy's has generally always been a good brand. My puppy is sensitive to beef and lamb, so I always opt for something fowl-based, or fish-based. I transitioned her to this food, and she absolutely loves the taste, goes crazy for it. Unfortunately, while transitioning her; she started to have a very soft stool, once we transitioned completely, explosive diarrhea. She's otherwise fine, but her diarrhea is out of control. I looked online at reviews and while there aren't any recalls, it seems to be a somewhat common theme with customers. Just be cautious if you decide to give this food to your pup.
I bought the small bag at first, my dog was fine. And my dog is not allergic to the ingredients. Once I finished that, I bought the big one. After a few days, my dog started to have diarrhoea with blood. Had to go to the Vet because of it. I am not sure why different size package had different result, but if your dog has sensitive stomach, be careful. Now I have a big bag of food that my dog shouldn't eat, waste of money and I have to switch back to OpenFarm.
Stella has been great for both my dogs. Just rescued a dog and transitioned them slowly and responsibly from the food they were eating to Stella and she loves it. She’s growing beautifully.
