Designs “For the Birds”

Inspired by natural behaviors in the wild, these toy designs include a mix of stimulating materials. They provide a range of interactive and fun activities for birds who like to forage, shred, exercise, and play.

Playthings with a Purpose

Providing enrichment in the form of purposely designed toys can prevent boredom and reduce behavioral problems in pet birds. These toys encourage healthy, natural instinctual activities, because bird toys are more than mere playthings for your bird!

Foraging is Fun

In the wild, parrots spend up to 70% of their day searching for food, so birds are hardwired for this level of physical and mental engagement. Hiding food in foraging toys helps keep them busy while stimulating their curiosity and appetite.

Chew on This

Chewing is a natural for parrots, keeping their beaks fit and trim as they chew nesting holes in trees. However, this drive to chew can create problems if we don't give parrots suitable objects like destructible toys to chew.

Questions & Answers

I have a fiberglass insert (like a bathfitter) for a shower. Will the suction cups work?

Answer by ChewyApr 29, 2020
This bird perch can mount on any smooth, clean, non-porous surface.

Where is this manufactured?

Answer by ChewyJul 19, 2020
This toy is proudly assembled in the USA. While Super Bird Creations gladly source as many components from the USA as possible, they also source parts and materials from other regions of the world like seagrass, vine balls, coconuts, balsa, plastic toy components and hardware. Many things they need to make their toys most interesting to birds are just not produced in the USA.

The perch part is covered in very sharp plastic crystals, which are too abrasive for bird feet. I get it that the surface needs to be grippy, and most birds won’t be on it for a long time. But this has many large, jagged chunks.

It has stuck very solidly to my glass shower wall, so at least in my case the suction has been fully effective. The texture of the perch itself though is sandy--honestly, holding it in my hand I was a bit horrified thinking of a bird gripping it with their feet!! It seemed even sharper/less comfortable than the sandy perches you can buy to file talons. Personally the first thing I did even before mounting it was I covered the thing in vet tape so that my bird's feet wouldn't touch the sharp sand granules. I assume this texture was chosen because the PVC would be slippery, which makes sense, but my bird has disabled feet and I didn't want her tearing up her skin. The vet tape makes the perch texture much better, but I don't know how it will handle getting wet, that is yet to be seen. Honestly would have preferred a different type of covering so I wouldn't have to DIY a solution. My conure has not actually agreed to stand on it yet, but I don't blame the perch for that lol. She stands on the top of my shower door and just yells at me until I'm done, maybe someday soon she'll step down on the perch, we shall see.
