Questions & Answers

Do you need to feed the larvae?
Answer by ChewyNov 23, 2021
The larvae are fine unfed unless you would like to grow their size up or if you are farming them. In that case, we suggest soft banana, apple or carrot to help. But they are okay left in the container they're shipped in and without food.

How do you store them properly?
Answer by ChewyMay 12, 2021
To store, leave this food in a container in room temperature. We recommend keeping away from direct sunlight.

can these be fed to leopard geckos?
Answer by ChewyJul 31, 2022
These fly larvae are suitable for feeding Leopard Geckos.

Can you feed them to your turtle
Answer by ChewyJul 01, 2021

Apparently 600=300

So I ordered 1000 black soldier fly larvae for my dragon. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they sent me two containers of 600. I set a feeding schedule for 15 larvae, 3x per day (she's young) so I should have enough for about a month with the extra 200. I ran out in 2 weeks, 2 WEEKS! That's about 600 fed so in reality, there were only about 300 per container bc I've found none dead. Sad to say I will be finding a new live food source. What a shame.

Terrible

I order every two weeks a shipment of these and they always come half dead or less than the amount that it says you’re getting. I’m totally disgusted!

Huzzah for a new food item

Purchased to try with my leopard gecko, who primarily is only interested in crickets and must be bribed to eat dubia. He LOVES them! Very happy as when I purchased a few in stores they were small and half dead. This item was full of VERY alive and wiggly little larvae...

My dragons go absolutely nuts for these things

Package came intact, some slight spillage of the substrate but not enough to be a mess. I absolutely hate the substrate they're packaged with, ended up using a strainer to separate the larvae from it.

So small, not large

I have now ordered the large soldier flies twice from this company. I am glad I get around 1000 each time but they were really small. I don't think I was given the right size. However my chameleons love these things and go through them quickly. I am going to order small and see how much diffence it makes. I'll be sure to update my review then

Beardies say CalciYUM

My beardie LOVES these so much. It’s amazing how nutritious they are. Easy to store and keep alive. No noise, no smell. The dust is a little messy but sifting it helps a lot.
