Transition Instructions
When changing to Taste of the Wild, we recommend making a gradual transition over 7 - 10 days to help avoid possible digestive upset in sensitive pets. Add a small amount of new food to your dog’s previous diet, gradually increasing the new and decreasing the previous diet until the transition is complete.
Learn More About Taste of the Wild From Our Team of Experts
They might not be wolves or coyotes, but today's domestic dogs share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.
Energy That Lasts
Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.
Immune System Support
Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.
Maximizing Nutrient Absorption
To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.
Perfectly Balanced Omegas
Taste of the Wild gives your pup just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from salmon oil, smoked salmon or ocean fish meal, or a combination of these ingredients. Omega-6 from plant sources balance out the omega-3s, and they work together to help maintain your pet's skin and coat health and to support overall wellness.
Ingredients for Better Health
The powerful superfood trio of blueberries, raspberries and tomatoes can be found in every delicious recipe, along with their immune-boosting properties.
TOMATOES AND TOMATO POMACE: Help support overall health by providing vitamin C, soluble fiber and rich in concentrated lycopene, a premier antioxidant.
BLUEBERRIES: Antioxidant-rich superfood that's full of flavor and loaded with vitamins C and E, healthy carbs, dietary fiber and manganese.
RASPBERRIES: Delicious berries packed with potassium, manganese, copper, iron and magnesium, and they also provide fiber and antioxidants.

Are all of the ingredients from the US or are some outsourced from China?
Answer by • Oct 24, 2017
Taste of the Wild uses some ingredients that are not USA sourced, lamb from New Zealand, lamb meal and venison from Australia, duck meal from France, potato protein from Germany and dried chicory root from Belgium. There are ingredients that are critical to the formulations (i.e. folic acid and taurine) that can only be sourced out of China.
where are the ingredients and where is Taste of the Wild made?
Answer by • Feb 16, 2023
Taste of the wild foods are made in six state-of-the-art facilities in the USA: two in California and one each in Missouri, Arkansas, South Carolina and Kansas. Their priority is to source ingredients of quality. Sometimes, these come from their global suppliers. Whether global or local, we form close relationships with all our suppliers and work with them only after a careful vetting process.
How many cups are in the bag? (Trying to determine how long this will feed my 2 large dogs.)
Answer by • Jul 18, 2020
There's approximately 20 cups of food in the 5-pound bag, 56 cups of food in the 14-pound bag, and 112 cups of food in the 28-pound bag.
How big are the kibbles?
Answer by • Jun 12, 2018
The Wetlands Canine kibble is a disk shape, about the size of a dime.
I've got my dog almost entirely eating just Taste of the Wild. Her poop is much more solid now. Also, the size of each kibble is slightly larger than what she had been eating so it's slowing down her tendency to inhale her food. I tried freeze dried, but she wasn't thrilled with it in water and she wasn't chewing it when dry. Taste of the Wild dry food has essentially the same good nutritional ingredients and she likes it. I'm wondering if trying the different varieties will upset she stomach.

My dogs don't love it
I really thought my dogs would love this dog food, based on other reviews, but they won't eat it unless I mix it with something else. I have no idea why.

Upset stomach, but dog did like to eat it
It caused my 6yr old King Charles Spaniel to have liquid excrement and increased in need to go. He may be allergic to something in the ingredients. He unfortunately liked the taste of the food and gobbled up the servings before we were aware of the cause of his discomfort.

Sensitive Stomach
Both of my dogs loved the taste of this food, and were very excited at meal times. I did a lot of reading before I bought it, so I know it checked all the boxes I was looking for. Unfortunately it didn't seem to help my sensitive guy, but I still think it's a quality food.

Not a favorite!
My dog is notorious for eating absolutely anything and everything- and she hates this food! Seriously, she will eat anything if left unattended, but she will leave this food alone for the whole day. If your dog is prone to hunger striking, maybe not the food for them.
