Recommended guidelines. Individual amounts may vary depending on animal activity and overall health and age.
Feed pregnant dogs up to 50% more during the last 3 weeks of pregnancy. Puppies less than 6 months old and lactating females require twice the amount of food as an Adult dog and should be fed 3-4 times a day. Puppies 6 months to a year should be fed twice daily. Senior and overweight dogs may be fed a reduced amount, depending on dog’s weight and activity level. Grain free diets may not be suitable for all dogs. If you have any dietary concerns, please consult your veterinarian. Be sure to have a clean bowl of cool, fresh water available at all times.
When changing to Tender & True Dog Food, some dogs may do better by making a gradual transition over 7 - 10 days. Start with 25% of the new food mixed with 75% of the previous diet, and gradually increase the new while decreasing the previous until the transition is complete.

My boy has a sensitivity to chicken and is picky af about what he eats- I finally found something he’s excited to dig into and doesn’t cause him to itch! And it’s so reasonably priced to boot.
This Turkey/Brown Rice recipe was rated 5 stars on dogfoodadvisor.com. This is an excellent avenue to find the best ranked foods and why. My 12 year old Lhasa Apso took to this food immediately which is unusual for her. I mix small amounts of ground cooked turkey or grass fed beef to it because no kibble is truly sufficient alone, and she loves it. Also, turkey and brown rice happen to be highly digestible for all dogs, expecially older ones. She has had no stomach issues and perfect poop every day on this food.
I normally buy a different brand but I couldn't find the flavor my dog likes so I decided to try this after reading the reviews and for the first time in years he eats ALL his food in ONE sitting!
Clean smell and our dogs eat up every time. I believe they like it.
MUST TASTE GOOD SHE LOVES IT! VERY SELECTIVE LITTLE GIRL! FINALLY ENJOYING HER MEALS.
NO mysterious (and unnecessary) "natural flavors", NO nasty canola oil, and NO hard to digest pea/bean ingredients in excess. Thank You Tender & True for making a dry kibble a loving Mommy-person can live with.
l've been trying to find a dog food with grain due to DCM concerns. This had great reviews and appeared to have quality ingredients. My lab has 0 interest in this food. I noticed when I opened the bag it smelled like cereal and not meat or typical dog food so maybe it was the lack of smell that had him disinterested. Either way, we will not be buying this again as it was definitely not a hit with our dog.
Hello. Sasha the dachshund here. Mommy tried me on lots of foods and I was having a bad itchy bumpy skin problem. Had to go to vet and get meds, and shots, and me no likey any of that. Mom figured out it had to be the food when I got so bumpy and miserable I couldn't eat. She fed me something different and I was better, but not 100 percent. Finally, she guessed it had to be antibiotics in the chicken in my food. Cause I was really bad itchy when I was a pup and had to take a pill that my body didn't like at all. After getting a new pill I got better and was doing pretty good until lately all the brands of food we tried must have been using chickens loaded with the pill that made me sick. Well, been on this food for a few weeks now. Been off steroids for 6 days now and no itchy, bumpy, losing fur mess that I was. Thanks Mom, Chewy, and the Tender And True Kibble peeps. Kisses Sasha.
I switched to this from another brand because my 12 lb puppy was producing bowel movements as large at the 37 lb dog. Which usually means there is a lot he can't digest or needs in the previous food. When I switched to this food his turds became very small and of a healthy nature according to the poop scale. None of my 3 puppies under 13 months old could eat grain free. This was the best I could find otherwise. My Vet also said rice is good for them and I feed them rice and chicken when they have tummy issues too. I'm so glad to have found this food.
