Good product for basic tank set ups

I used this for my betta fish that I had in a 3 gal tank before him upgrade. This filter works decently for what it’s worth!

I’m distraught I didn’t come to look at the reviews before purchasing this filter! It sucked in my poor beta fish & even after unplugging over half of his fins were still stuck at the bottom. Upon reading the reviews this is not the first time this has happened! I did not take a photo as I should have because I was so panicked! I just bought this filter 2 days ago I'm disgusted!

New small fish filter

I have a 2.5 gallon tank. It was hard to find a suitable replacement size for my set up. This one is for a 4 gallon tank, so I took a chance. It seems to work fine

I have a 2.5 gallon tank. It was hard to find a suitable replacement size for my set up. This one is for a 4 gallon tank, so I took a chance. It seems to work fine. Bonus points for taking the same filters I had on hand from my old pump. It is quiet.

Sucked my poor beta up into the bottom of the filter. When I called customer support (not to get a refund) just to inform them of this tragical situation. He said it couldn’t have been that and was just my water quality. He said they wouldn’t put something on the shelf that was would suck my fish into it..I know it’s just fish but she didn’t even have a chance and I’m heartbroken. The customer service guy continued arguing with me when all I wanted was to make sure this didn’t happen again. Apparently I see from the reviews it’s happened. This was my toddlers replacement fish as his older one just passed.. DO NOT BUY.

Works well but potentially hazardous

This came with a mini aquarium that we keep a beta in. I actually don't use this filter regularly because the suction is pretty strong and I don't want it to tire out our beta or injure him. I do use this filter when doing a deep clean on our mini tank though. I admittedly go too long without cleaning sometimes and algae can get out of control. I temporarily remove our air pump filter (and don't really do anything with that to keep all the good bacteria) and other tank decor (I do clean the tank decor), put this Tetra filter in with a new filter cartridge, and stir up the gravel a bit and then let it run for a little while until the water is crystal clear again. I try to keep an eye on my beta during this process to make sure he's not struggling against any current and so he doesn't get suctioned by the filter.

Bought 4 of these setup 2 and one worked for a hour before dying. Still need to setup the last one but the other 2 have worked out and it’s been 36 hours

Works great with minor modification

Perfect for a 4 gallon fish tank. But keep in mind the impeller is partially exposed and can potentially injure your fish. I used a piece of mesh sponge and attached

Killed multiple fish.

The intake is very poorly designed and difficult to modify, several fish got stuck and died. A larger one got just part of his body stuck and ended up dying too
