For adult cats, feed approximately 1 1/2 cans per day per 7 lbs of body weight. For kittens, offer food several times a day, feed up to twice this amount. Pregnant or nursing cats may require two to four times their normal feeding. The amount to feed will vary based upon age, activity level, breed, size, and environment. Please use the feeding guidelines as an initial recommendation and adjust food amount as needed to maintain proper weight. Always provide access to clean, fresh water. Canned food should be changed at least twice daily in order to prevent spoilage.
The best way to transition to a new food is to switch gradually over the course of 7-10 days. For example, make a mixture that contains 25% of the new food and 75% of the old food and feed that for three days. Then make it 50-50 for three more days, then 75% new food and 25% old food for three more days. If your cat seems comfortable with this progression, you can start feeding 100% new food. If at any time your pet starts vomiting, has loose stools, or appears constipated, slow the rate at which you are switching the food. If problems continue to occur, consult your veterinarian.
Variety pack is a great deal for the size of the cans and for the flavors. Even the flavors my kitties aren’t the biggest fans of, they still eat. They have so much more energy in comparison to other brands of wet food, so it’s clearly making them feel better by eating Whole Foods. The only con is that it’s very strong smelling which if you have a sensitive nose like me, can be a deal breaker. This food is so good, I will withstand the smell 1000 times over. 10/10, reach for it every time.
I have been giving my 13 year old kitty the Tiki After Dark Chicken and Duck for a while now. She loves it, but I wanted to switch it up and allow her some other flavors to experience. She has loved them all!
Love this stuff and so does my cat! No questionable fillers, no huge pieces (besides the quail egg, which I chop in half), and my cat is a fan of all flavors. I add in freeze-dried raw to complete the meal and sometimes swap for a slightly more fatty wet food, since this one is pretty low fat. Wish it were more affordable, though it is worth it for my fur baby.
How does THAT happen, Chewey? The good: this is hands down the feral feline visitor's favorite food--other than our left overs. So far likes all the flavors. The universal cat food lid fits the can The bad: Pretty nervy to rebox damaged cans and sell at the same VERY high price. She tires of the Tiki seafood offerings pretty quickly if she's coming around often--not fond of shellfish at all. So I give her one of those I already had when she appears after several days and is really hungry. Move on to the After Dark (above) Friskies Farm and Purina Beyond simply grain free when she comes daily. She is very fond of the Purina Beyond grain free dry food (both chicken and fish)
This is the only cat food Ive found that doesn’t use some kind of thickening starch or gum. My cat loves every single variety, but unfortunately she will not eat the whole quail egg. Maybe tiki will cut them up one day, ha! We’ll never buy anything else, love the quality ingredients.
I love tiki cat for my son, I can tell he really enjoyed eating the shreds of chicken and small meats. Always leaves the bowl super clean from where he licks it.
It looked really good, shreds of meat, hard boiled quail eggs, tiny shrimp...my cat won't touch it. She's not usually picky, and has had similar wet foods throughout her life. Same thing happened with my friend's cat.
I am a veterinary technician and I'm very serious about the nutrition of my pets, tiki cat after dark is my #1 wet food! The first 5 ingredients are the most important and I love that these tiki cat after dark wet food has the first 5 has actual meat that is specified (ex. Chicken liver, chicken gizzard, chicken heart). This gives you the exact animal it came from and the parts that it came from. My cat is super picky and doesn't like pates but loves shreds and I'm so glad these are shreds! I always recommend and they are on autoship for me. Love, love, love!
Both of my cats seem to absolutely love this food. My older boy is extremely picky about textures, and usually doesn't enjoy shreds, but he almost inhaled this food! I am really impressed so far. I'll update if anything changes, but for now this is absolutely a 5 star addition to our rotation.
There are actual bits of shredded chicken and a quail egg. My cat eats better than me.
