Larger than expected
By TriedThis on Dec 13, 2020
Gerbil needs sand baths, but it’s very difficult to find sand not dust. Fine particles are bad for their lungs. Even Chinchilla sand is too fine. This is least fine sand I have found so far. All the other sands I tried before were in small packages that didn’t last for very many baths. ( I leave it in their cage 24/7 and change when dirty). This tube of sand is much bigger than it appeared online and quite a lot of sand in it. It should last quite a while.

Actually dusty
By Justanotherhamsterlady on Feb 20, 2021
This brand is safe to use in the UK but the usa variant is actually dust, despite what it says on the can. Do not use for hamsters.

Sand for Gerbil baths
By TwoCats on Jan 14, 2021
This sand is great for Gerbil baths, once they’ve bathed in the fresh sand they use it as a litter box. I change it out when I refresh the bedding. I use a large hollowed out coconut as the bath.

Not for hamster
By Winty on Dec 14, 2020
This is not sand. It's dust! It's super dusty and makes my hamster sneeze a lot. Throwing this away. Very misleading product.

Good for Dwarf Hamster
By Becky on Aug 11, 2020
I originally bought the Kaytee brand which was more of a white powder. My dwarf hamster absolutely loved it and got in it the minute it was in his cage. He would pee in it which was great because the bedding didn't smell so much anymore. The negative was that there was powder residue all over his cage and the table from him digging in it. I read that this powder wasn't good for hamsters and could cause upper respiratory issues so I switched to the Tiny Friends Farm even though my hamster never had any URI issues. Tiny Friends is more sandy. My hamster likes this sand also, however, he doesn't pee in it so his bedding is back to smelling again and my hamster doesn't get as soft and fluffy I originally bought the Kaytee brand which was more of a white powder. But the good thing is that it doesn't create the powdery residue all over. … more

Too dusty in opinion
By hannah on Aug 31, 2020
My hamster enjoys a good sand bath and sand is so hard to find in my area, so I ordered this one after hearing good things. I tried it out and watched her in it. She enjoyed it and didn’t seemed to have any reaction to it, but it does seem a bit dusty for pets like hamsters. It would probably be more suitable for larger small pets with better respiratory systems

Not too fine

This sand isn't dust like most baths are. My hamster loves it.

My gerbils seem to like it
By Mary on Aug 22, 2020
I poured some of this sand into a bowl, and gerbils jumped into it immediately and began digging in it and rubbing it on their nose. They seemed to enjoy bathing in it. It also seems to be dust free as advertised. Nothing flew up when I opened the can or poured it into the bowl.
