Questions & Answers

12 Customer Questions

Does the block have any sugar? My horse has cushings. Is the fly block okay for my horse?

Answer by ChewyJul 30, 2021
This supplement contain cane molasses, which is made from the sugar cane plant. Due to your pet's diagnosed condition, we recommend consulting your veterinarian to ensure this supplement is safe to use.

Are these safe for bred mares

Answer by ChewyJul 23, 2021
This product is safe for broodmares.

Is this a sweet flavored block or salty flavored? Will they lick it or are they going to gorge themselves on it like the glutinous creatures they are?

Answer by ChewyJul 19, 2021
This supplement does contain Cane Molasses. Provide this block as a free choice source of nutritional supplementation for your equine. When used as directed, this block will provide sufficient diflubenzuron to prevent fly emergence from the manure of treated equine. This product prevents the development of house flies and stable flies in the manure of treated equine. Existing adult flies will not be affected. Start feeding this product early in the spring before flies begin to appear and continue feeding throughout the summer and into the fall until cold weather restricts fly activity. Allow free choice to equine. Equine should consume an average of 0.15 milligrams of diflubenzuron per kilogram of animal body weight per day, to achieve control of house flies and stable flies. Equine should consume an average of 1.2 ounces of this product per 100 pounds of animal body weight per day, which is equivalent to 12 ounces per day for a 1,000 pound equine.

Are there any negative consequences if too much is consumed? With multiple horses it is almost impossible to estimate the amount that each individual animal is consuming off the block on a daily basis, so is your recommendation 1 block per horse?

Doesn't work

I thought I would save time by having this product in every stall. Some horses ate it some did not. Some ate it it all in a day or two. It also melted in the humidity

Equine Fly Control

Great size, smells good & I am sure it taste good too cuz they treated it like a treat instead of a lickable block (like a salt block) I had assumed it was going

Great size, smells good & I am sure it taste good too cuz they treated it like a treat instead of a lickable block (like a salt block) I had assumed it was going to be like a salt block or mineral block & last a couple of months (6months for my other blocks) but they treated it like a apple or molasses treat & it was gone in a week. If i decide to do another one Ill do them a month apart at that price.

Just get the feed pellets

I put this out and intentionally placed it under the run in shelter in a feed pan with drainage holes, because I read other comments that it designated quickly

I put this out and intentionally placed it under the run in shelter in a feed pan with drainage holes, because I read other comments that it designated quickly. Even the little bit of rain that blew into the run in was too much. The whole block disintegrated in one night of being out.

Fly control block

Donkeys, pony and my horse love the block. With this hot summer I have found it has definitely helped with the fly problem.

Tastes Good!

I put the salt block (33lbs) out and by the next day it was half gone! The horses (6) and goats (5) loved it! The last half did go a bit slower but it was gone in

I put the salt block (33lbs) out and by the next day it was half gone! The horses (6) and goats (5) loved it! The last half did go a bit slower but it was gone in a few days. As to decreasing the flys, I have no data yet. I do plan on reordering!

So far so good

My one gelding has had his block about 3 weeks and it’s almost gone, my 2 mares are going through about a block every 2 weeks. People think this is a fly REPELLENT

My one gelding has had his block about 3 weeks and it’s almost gone, my 2 mares are going through about a block every 2 weeks. People think this is a fly REPELLENT which it isn’t, it makes it so the flys eggs can’t survive in their POOP so if every horse on your ranch won’t eat it it’s not gonna work. It stops eggs from hatching, it doesn’t repel flys you gotta keep feeding it for it to eventually work.

Horses loved it!

My 2 horses loved this block. It was gone in less than a week. Seems to have helped reduce the amount of flies I see on them as well

I can't say if this block really helps with flies or not. They made it apparently to taste like a treat because my horses ate it all in two days time. According to interactions it really should have lasted quite a long time out there for them. It also will not handle any type of moisture at all even the lightest rain and it will disintegrate. For that reason I feel like something that can be added to the food is probably more cost-effective than putting these blocks into your pastures
