Pony-Approved!

Phoenix was a big fan of this balancer! She ate it a lot more enthusiastically than her previous ration balancer and I think she appreciated the higher feeding rate,

Phoenix was a big fan of this balancer! She ate it a lot more enthusiastically than her previous ration balancer and I think she appreciated the higher feeding rate, lol. I fed her about 2 lbs a day of this so while it had a slightly higher feeding rate than her previous balancer it was still a much lower feeding rate than regular grain would call for. This made it economical and a good choice for her health because she's a large pony and therefore an easy keeper. I liked the clean ingredients of this feed and that it included ingredients like peas, sweet potatoes, and sunflower seeds as a whole-food approach to nutrition. I definitely recommend giving this a try!

I've struggled trying to find a ration balancer for my three very different horses. The Wholesome Blend RB is what I settled on. It satisfies the picky eater who won't touch anything with soy. This is soy free. Depending on the horse, they get 1-2 pounds per day as their diet is forage based. I divide feedings to 2x a day. Picky eater is maintaining his weight while in work, the overweight horse is slowly dropping weight and retired OTTB is maintaining weight even though he runs a little hot. The only thing extra they get is a tbs. salt, a balanced omega 3/6 oil and extra Vit E (for two neurological horses). These are my choice extras and have been doing so for years regardless of the feed and not necessarily required additives to this product. We've cut costs, time and confusion on who gets what. The nutritionist at Tribute is very helpful in answering all of my questions. I highly recommend!

The feeding rate is outrageous

I researched this product and the website says that the feeding rate is the usual 1lb per feed as typical of a ration balancer. HOWEVER, the bag actually states

I researched this product and the website says that the feeding rate is the usual 1lb per feed as typical of a ration balancer. HOWEVER, the bag actually states an idle horse needs to be fed 5 POUNDS to 10 POUNDS per day! I’ve now been under feeding this product for 3-4 bags worth of ration balancer.

Cautiously Optimistic About This Ration Balancer

It took a minute for my gelding to warm up to this stuff (he loves to eat but can be weird about some new feeds and supplements), but he's eating it now with gusto!

It took a minute for my gelding to warm up to this stuff (he loves to eat but can be weird about some new feeds and supplements), but he's eating it now with gusto! I see other reviews mentioning horses not touching it, and mine was the same! I just left the bag opened in a spare trash can (feed bin) and every now and then I'd offer him a handful to see if he'd had a change of heart. Sometimes he'd eat most and let the rest fall on the ground. Then he eventually started eating it pretty well and finally, I was able to start putting a little in his meals of soaked beet pulp, ground flaxseed, and his forage balancer and supplements. He ate it fine, and eventually began "talking" at meal times (which he has never really done, I've owned him his entire life). He seems to really like it now, cleans his bucket happily. Time will tell if it fits the bill for him, but I love the ingredients and nutritional profile on it, so fingers crossed that this takes the place of about three supplements that I'll no longer need to feed!

Excellent Horse loves it

Deacon loves the Wholesome Blend Feed, we started with the Wholesome Blend Performance, but found for some reasons they discontinued it so I purchased the Balancer

Deacon loves the Wholesome Blend Feed, we started with the Wholesome Blend Performance, but found for some reasons they discontinued it so I purchased the Balancer and Senior, Wholesome Blend Feed. Deacon is a picky eater and even picker since he developed ulcers from EPM meds. Now that he is back on feed these seem to help with building weight and muscle besides all the other great nutrition they offer. I hope they do not discontinue this line Excellent feed

Soy free ration balancer

I’ve been using Wholesome Blends for my herd of Miniature Horses & Donkeys for years. I like that it has balanced protein/amino acids, and a good amount of vitamins

I’ve been using Wholesome Blends for my herd of Miniature Horses & Donkeys for years. I like that it has balanced protein/amino acids, and a good amount of vitamins and natural minerals. Many members of the herd have had a variety of symptoms from using soy based balancers so I started using this & the symptoms have resolved

Horse loves it

I have a gelding who gets fat on air. Vet suggested a small amount of feed along with hay pellets. I tried another balancer and he would walk away from it. He loves this feed. In fact, I used to have to go out in the pasture, halter him and bring him in for dinner. Now, he is waiting in the stall or comes galloping in for dinner. The only thing that has changed is the feed. Stools are good, he looks healthy and is doing well on this feed. I like the smell and the actual pieces of vegetables, plus the fact that bit is low sugar, high fiber and has probiotics.
