Fantastic Bed

All of my cats love this bed - so much so, that I have 3! Are the screws and anchors the best? They're decent but you really want to get at least one side into

All of my cats love this bed - so much so, that I have 3! Are the screws and anchors the best? They're decent but you really want to get at least one side into a stud for it to feel secure. Using other drywall anchors makes this feel more sturdy. Nothing against the ones that come in the package but I prefer overkill when it comes to weight support. Maybe it's the curve or the little cushion (which is thin), but the cats are addicted - it's one of their favorite spots out of all the locations on their cat walls.

STILL can't reach wall studs.

I bought the smaller version of this shelf before realizing that it wouldn't secure across two wall studs (the standard width for wall studs in most residential buildings is 16", which is what mine are). So I figured I'd get the XL version of this shelf, surely that's going to be wide enough? Kinda. Even the pre drilled holes in the XL shelf's support are not wide enough to reach standard wall studs, but the base itself actually reaches the studs, so I'll just have to drill my own holes to make sure it reaches a stud on each side. Being able to secure to only one stud on one side is asking for this shelf to rip off the wall sometime down the road and take a cat tumbling with it. I'm seriously disappointed in Trixie, they have a very good design until we get to the security of it, where they failed miserably across the board.

Great with Adjustments

I read the reviews for this product (and the smaller version of this product) and got some great tips that helped with hanging it. I ordered the larger version

I read the reviews for this product (and the smaller version of this product) and got some great tips that helped with hanging it. I ordered the larger version due to complaints regarding the smaller version being too small. We also purchased a small plank of wood to mount the product onto and used a stud finder to ensure the plank was sturdily mounted onto the studs in the wall. So far so good! See picture for a demonstration. My foster girl is still a bit afraid of people, but loves to sleep near me and perched over me at night. Initially she tried getting on my headboard, but she could not sleep there, so I bought this product and she is using it as intended. 4 stars since you have to buy extra stuff and read tips to ensure this does not fall off the walls.

Wouldn't buy again

I wouldn't buy this shelf again and wouldn't recommend if your cat is more than 10 lbs, despite the product description saying 15 lbs max weight. I have a 14-lb

I wouldn't buy this shelf again and wouldn't recommend if your cat is more than 10 lbs, despite the product description saying 15 lbs max weight. I have a 14-lb cat, we took extra steps to make sure the shelf is securely installed on the wall, but I still think the shelf is barely sturdy enough to withstand this cat jumping on it on a regular basis. It's not only an issue of securing it to the wall, it's also the construction of the shelf. For example i think a shelf like this should have 2 corbels on each side instead of 1 in the middle. It's also barely long/wide enough for my cat to lay on at the "XL" size. I don't think it's going to last. I also have an 8-lb cat, it seems sturdy enough for her but unfortunately she doesn't seem to like laying on the shelf. I don't think she likes the curved shape. I tried to find a flat shelf but there aren't many on the market. This might be worth trying if you have a lightweight cat, they may or may not like it.
