How much glucose is in each type of true acre dry dog food? Looking for my recently diagnosed diabetic dog. Thanks. We currently buy the True Acre weight control.

why is there ash at all?
Answer by ChewyJul 07, 2019
Every food will contain ash content as mineral nutrients are essential. If you were to completely incinerate food, all three major nutrients (protein, fat and carbohydrates) would burn away, leaving just the food’s minerals behind. Mineral nutrients (like calcium, phosphorous, zinc, iron, etc.) make up ash, the ultimate residue of food combustion.

Whats the ash content?
Answer by ChewyMar 12, 2019
There is 8% ash in this food on an as fed basis.

I was disappointed in finding out that the Beef and vegetable food has poultry by-products in it. I got that because my dog is very allergic to all poultry, as well as, rice and potatoes.

My dogs hate it

I ordered this because Chewy discontinued the food I had been feeding my boys (which they loved) and was very hopeful based on the reviews. Sadly, both of them hate this food, even though one of them is basically a vacuum cleaner and will eat most anything. I have to add mashed banana and peanut butter to it just to get them to eat it at all. Half the time one of my boys vomits it back up. We’ve never had this problem before with any food.

I used to love Chewy, not any more.

I have been a good customer for a long time and used to think Chewy was the best ever online store. I purchased dry dog food the end of May and need to purchase it again, but THE PRICE INCREASED BY MORE THAN 50%. An increase like that in a month is so unacceptable so i thought it had to be a mistake. i chatted with a manager and he basically said sorry but this is not a mistake so i purchased the same product elsewhere for what I paid chewy the end of May (50% less than what Chewy is asking). What a shame, Chewy.

dogs liked it at first

We have 4 dogs and they are mixed breeds and sizes and 2 are seniors. They all liked the food at first, but lately they've been pickier of it..some days I have to put something else in it and one of them will finally end up eating it..maybe it's just the dogs, but I'm trying another brand.

I’m not sure about it

I’ve gotten this brand before and it’s fine. But this particular one seems to give him gas and he’s using the restroom a lot more than normal. I don’t think it sits well with his stomach

Very Good dry dog food

This is excellent product as my dog has allergies to grain products, I was feeding him Purina True instincts grain free beef brand as it got really hard to find it switched over to true acres brand grain free which is pretty close if not better then purina way over priced brand. Purina is so much over priced I save a lot with true acre brand and my dog loves it.

Dog won't eat it

My dog eats just about everything. Not this one. She refuses and would rather starve.

Great food!

Since Bruce has been eating this food he hasn’t been itchy or red and he hasn’t been scratching. He’s a picky eater and we’ve figured out salmon is not for him. But this brand he actually likes. Very happy with it.

Dog Hates Food

My dog will not touch this food. She loves everything but will barely touch this. We had to spice it up to even get her to consider it. May work for other dogs, but be weary.

Kibble is large for small dogs

I had great hopes for this product, but my dog disappointed me. She wouldn't eat it, even with gravy or veggies. The kibble is just too big for her.
